I agree. Although I don't think Nyquist and Johansson would get on a best-on-best Swedish team without any injuries.

E. Karlsson - Hedman
OEL - Larsson
Klingberg - Ekholm
Dahlin/H. Lindholm

Landeskog - Bäckström - Nylander
Forsberg - W. Karlsson - Arvidsson
Rakell - Zibanejad - Pettersson

Arvidsson by far our best goal scorer. He would play on line 1 or 2. We also miss, from players knocked out, Dahlin, Backlund, Silverberg, William Karlsson, Burakovsky, Lehner, Johnsson, Söderberg and Strålman, for example

That's some freaking depth, Sweden can actually create two stacked contenders - even on the goalie spot - for one tournament from NHL players only. Reminds me of our Czech fellas playing in NHL 15-25 years back, quite the same position. Hopefully we can compete in 10 years again, Vrána/Pastrňák/Zadina/Hronek/Hájek/Nečas/Chytil generation will be on the peak in like 5-7 years, with Palát/Gudas/Hertl/Simon/Mrázek and other to be added.

Would be actually great if NHLers were allowed to play in Beijing in the next Olympics, while other teams would be definitely stacked up, would be looking forward to our squad.

Nonetheless, Swedish force is remarkable indeed.

I only really have them as possibilities though. Johnsson not Johansson :), really just wanted to point out the most glaring 5 or so omissions. Also if its really a best on best there is no way Silfverberg should get the chance that serial decliner can go hang out with his dentist. (Yeah I know I mentioned him myself)

And probably the youngest team we ever assembled

Pettersson 20
Bratt 20
Lindblom 22
Nylander 23
A Kempe 23
Lindholm 24
Landeskog 26

Etc
Not really that young. Average age is 26.54(without Holm, who would maybe add an extra 0.01 or so considering he's 27). Which is pretty average for Swedish teams.

As for times we've won gold; 2018 average was 24.84, and 1992 it was 24.09. Youngest ever was 1982 when the average age was 23.

Erik Karlsson is playing, that's why he is not missing on my team. Lehner, Karlsson, Arvidsson etc are merely minor upgrades. In the writing moment (now) we know that Wennberg, Lander and Hörnqvist works on this team. Which is a bit of cheating from me :)

All Missing Team
Filip Forsberg - Nicklas Bäckström - Viktor Arvidsson
Rickard Rakell - Mika Zibanejad - Jakob Silfverberg
Marcus Johansson - Mikael Backlund - Gustav Nyquist
Alexander Steen - William Karlsson - Jesper Fast
Carl Hagelin - Calle Järnkrok

Victor Hedman - Anton Strålman
Hampus Lindholm - Jonas Brodin
Alexander Edler - Erik Karlsson
Rasmus Dahlin - Niklas Hjalmarsson

Robin Lehner
Anders Nilsson
Linus Ullmark

No offense to Enroth, Lander and Wennberg or Kempe but I really don’t think Lehner, Karlsson/Backlund, Arvidsson are only minor upgrades over them. I do agree with the point you were trying to make, that its a pretty damn strong team though.

Damn that’s a strong team. I’d rather have this teams defense though. Hahaha that’s pretty insane considering that defense has TWO Norris winners. I do think that offense is better. Overall it would be 50/50 which squad I’d choose. Because I’d rather have both of Lundqvist/Markström than only Lehner. If one gets hurt you’re not in for a massive downgrade on the goalie position.

Training lines today were:

William Nylander, Alexander Wennberg, Patric Hörnqvist
Elias Pettersson, Elias Lindholm, Oskar Lindblom
Loui Eriksson, Anton Lander, Adrian Kempe
Dennis Rasmussen, Marcus Krüger, Mario Kempe

Ekman-Larsson—Larsson
Klingberg—Ekholm
Gustafsson—Pettersson
Hägg—Holm

But Landeskog is expected to play, 99% he takes Lindbloms spot. Will be interesting to see if Lindblom is 13F then or on a bottom line. Obviously Bratt is coming in again later aswell, but not tomorrow.

Don’t like Pettersson at wing. He doesn’t get to dictate the game that way. Lindholm can take the faceoffs though.

I don't think neither Nylander nor Petterson was doing well enough. He and Nylander are kind of the same players in a way, they're the most effective when they have the puck. Of course they could probably play very well together, but with the new additions it makes more sense to play Wennberg with Nylander. As for Hörnqvist/ Lindholm with Nylander or Pettersson, it's a coin flip. I think it'll be an interesting try to get both lines going.
You also have Nylander transitioning the puck for his line, which leads to a lot of early possession for him since he likes hanging on to it. It naturally push Pettersson into more of a complimentary role with fewer puck touches, when he should be driving his own line.

Separating the two seem like the right call.

Good point but this kind of depth will never come again if this system remains the same. Those guys you mentioned were product of communist style of sports upbringing (everybody could play for free and everybody was given free equipment)
Today only kids from families get to play competitive hockey, those kids are given advantages over normal kids etc. I hope Pesan can make revolution though.

Lindblom is too good to sit. Mario kempe should sit before him.
