Team Finland WC 2023

Well I really hope so, but now I'd say it's a 50/50 game. I'm starting to loose faith on Boston. They weren't able to close the series earlier so why would they be able to do any better now? Boston already had a home game where they lost to Florida. Bergeron has +/- minus 4 in 2 games. They must've rushed him in and it messed up their line chemistries. Maybe they should side line him for 1 game and then if Boston wins, bring Bergeron back for the next series, but I don't think it will happen.
Tkachuk is the X factor imho But Florida needs to prove they can overcome that first round hurdle. Just have a feeling the more experienced Boston team wins and Marchard comes up big as usual in a high pressure situation.

I agree. Taylor Hall as well and Pastrnak. Florida's Finns are good now and Barkov, who lately got criticism was good in the last game. Maybe Boston has a goalie advantage though. Both teams need their top guys to perform in game 7. If it's not with points, then don't leak in the defensive end. I'm not impressed with Bergeron right now.

I know that but you probably get the point. Second round can end quickly. In time for us to get some really good players still. It's up to Jalonen & Lehtinen how long they want to keep the door open. I'm quite sure it's at least 1 slot they keep open, maybe more. I'm disappointed if it's less than 2 slots they keep open.

Here are the lines for today's second Sweden game. I love to see Kapanen with Suomela experimented. Suomela was with MaG in the first game as well, but JMA was kicked out from today's roster. Second start for Olkinuora against Sweden is interesting. Some real warm up for Olkinuora for the WHC. Bolded players were together in last game as well.

Maalilla:
45 Olkinuora Jussi

1:
60 Granlund Markus – 74 Suomela Antti – 42 Kapanen Kasperi
4 Lehtonen Mikko (A) − 55 Ohtamaa Atte (A)

2:
82 Pesonen Harri – 91 Lammikko Juho – 22 Ruotsalainen Arttu
40 Lindbohm Petteri – 7 Tuomisto Antti

3:
39 Liedes Heikki – 62 Mattila Julius – 27 Kuokkanen Janne
38 Riikola Juuso − 2 Pokka Ville

4:
29 Oksanen Ahti – 28 Tikka Tommi – 12 Anttila Marko (C)
10 Pulli Valtteri − 23 Matinpalo Nikolas

Yeah i get you. Also one thing i didn't mention is Colorado is looking pretty crippled. Seattle could pull an upset there and who knows maybe we get the dream line Laine - Barkov - Rantanen. There's actually a nice base for other lines. Like you said Suomela - Kapanen could be a nice base, then there's the ufa line possibility and obviously Björninen - Mörkö for 4th line. Happy Vappu everyone and don't drink too much Sima! ;)

One factor also is does Boston have the balls to go to Swayman now. Ullmark been flipflopping like a baby seal last couple of games.

Dunno. Colorado won the last game so easily... Doesn't look promising for Seattle. Colorado gets that game seven at home too. 39-23 shots won by Colorado at an away game. I think that the domination continues at home. Seattle needs some bounces and first goal and so on.

Well yeah. Maybe you are right about that goalie thing. However Florida has also been swapping goalies all the time.

Interesting. No Sateri and Vatanen are the big absentees I see.

Like the look of the squad though. Looks strong.

Really interested to see Larmi at international level. I must admit I haven't watched a lot of him but EK has got me excited about him. Could be a fun one.

Defence still looks really solid without Vatanen but maybe loses attack power that Vatanen brings. Defensively though, really strong.

Absolutely delighted to see Hartikainen.

I think also now is probably the time to accept Mikael Granlund and Lankinen are out. Pity but I hold no grudges against either of these servants. Of course there could be surprises in final squad but I doubt it.

More likely Vatanen and Sateri could be added later. But I have my doubts on that also.

This looks a solid team that could challenge for gold. It could get exceptionally good with some first round exits.

Nice team!

Koivisto back.

With the current line-up I'd go with something like this on offense:

Ma.Granlund-Manninen-Hartikainen
Laine-Suomela-Kapanen
Pesonen-Lammikko-Armia
Oksanen-Björninen-Anttila
Rajala

I was a bit scared to put Kapanen and Laine together but I have a feeling Kapanen will have a good tournament. Showed some good speed yesterday. It would obviously be nice to get Mikael Granlund, Kaapo Kakko or one of the three in Florida to the team. Välimäki would be a great addition on defense.

I'm actually quite happy to see Larmi and Heljanko joining. It'd be nice to get Lankinen but if not this trio will be fine.

At the end of the day if we don't get a few more additions from the NHL this will be a good but very classic Jalonen team. Mostly players from Europe that he knows well

Two of Kapanen, Laine and Suomela together is fine. All three of them however would be a waste. All three love the puck.

Laine - Suomela - Armia
UFA
Pesonen - Ruohomaa - Kapanen
Lammikkon- Björninen - Anttila

and the d...?

has Mikael Granlund confirmed that he is not coming? because none of you have him in the team
No word from him whatsoever. Neither is there a word of Maccelli and Mäenalanen, whom you have in your group - since both are contractless, it's a safe bet they're not coming.

This is what I've got too. Perhaps swap Kapanen and Armia around.

The only thing I don't like about the current forward group is the lack of a 3C who could generate some secondary offense. Lammikko is a reliable two-way option, but he's always been a bit of an offensive blackhole in his NT appearances. (Though he's just had a decent season in Switzerland, so I guess there's hope for him yet.) Well, Florida being eliminated would probably solve this problem.

The defense lacks some puckmovers. Right now it only has Lehtonen as a top shelf option. Kemiläinen and Koivisto are so-so. Too bad about Saarijärvi, he looked like a shoo-in in this situation.

Regarding the net, the lack of Säteri was a bit surprising - but on the other hand, Larmi on board does make up for it.

No. Simply speculating as he has not confirmed he has joined by now, that he is skipping.

If he joins, he would be in everyone's list. It's not that we don't want Mikael Granlund.

Too bad that even the NJ-NYR series had to go to game 7. I was hoping for some luck on getting Kakko. Lately we haven't been very lucky with the NHL results. Well maybe on the upcoming night we get at least one good result from the Florida series or Colorado series, but I got to say I'm not so sure about that, because of the way these NHL series have gone lately.

Few more players to mention who didn't get invited or didn't want to join: Savinainen & Lehterä. I'm more surprised about Savinainen, but maybe we had enough wingers as it is. The guy's so clutch though, but with him it's probably the age factor and international games have a different pace compared to Liiga.

On Mikael Granlund. I haven't 100% given up hope on getting him, but doesn't look promising that we havent heard anything about that. I would love to hear a "no" answer so we can stop speculating on that.
