Yeah. I´m very excited and waiting. Hopefully no one gets the covid.
The two most recent posts aged like milk. Joonas Kemppainen has COVID and misses the olympics. Joonas Nättinen (Severstal Cherepovets) named as replacement. Also, Toni Rajala was exposed and won't travel with the rest of the team but will be allowed to join if he tests negative.
The silver lining is that Kemppainen was projected as an extra forward, so it's not a major blow. Also, it was announced who are the other five players besides Nättinen in the Finnish taxi squad: G Janne Juvonen (Jokerit), D Tommi Kivistö (Jokerit), D Oliwer Kaski (Avangard Omsk), F Veli-Matti Savinainen (Jokerit) and F Teemu Turunen (Jokerit).

I don't speak Finnish so I'm going off of the translation, but this makes it sound like Juvonen is not travelling to China

Btw - why is no form of baseball played/popular in Sweden*?
Globally baseball is one of the leading sports...

Baseball isn't very popular in most countries outside of the US. Isn't cricket more popular?
For some reason I understood that Finland would play a practice match against Switzerland before the Olympic tournament, so does anyone know if that's the case? I tried googling about that but I couldn't find anything. My logic says that they shouldn't do that as playing any practice game or games can pretty much jeopardize the entire tournament because there is the possibility of covid infections.
Yes, cricket and e g field hockey are more popular than baseball.
But baseball is significantly more popular than ice hockey...

Anttila placed in isolation due to a positive COVID test. Apparently it's some kind of residual result - he got the virus earlier this year, has tested negative in Finland since then and is completely asymptomatic. So they expect he'll test negative soon and will be able to join the team.
Lines in the first practice:

I wonder if Komarov is a placeholder for Mörkö or if he will actually be the one playing...

Most likely Mäenalanen is the placeholder. Though he should stay in the lineup too if Rajala doesn't make it.
Would be better if Komarov played, even if he's got a bit worse as a player. I think that having him in the line up would be a confidence booster for other players and that's NHL sized rink they will play on, in which Komarov has played many games in the recent seasons. If Anttila will get the green light to play, it would suck to break that trio of Mäenalanen-Björninen-Anttila which was so great in the last WHC.
I'm hoping that Komarov would be inserted in some other line. I think that it's still possible that they could put him in the second line in place of Nättinen and they are just using this opportunity while Mörkö is out to check how that line would be with Komarov instead of Mörkö.

This is it the Finland squad that will kick to kill and ram the rest of 'em down more or less there in that ever so hated China Covid-19 Olympics. Eat your shi... or whatever (bats) you want to eat your heart out.
But I want a Finland Olympic hockey gold no matter what.
The rest of the Olympics I care less than a minimum about.
Actually this (icehockey) is the only competition I will follow properly this Olympics around the rest ... blä!
