Sorry but that's fake news. It's not the final roster. Final roster will be announced on Thursday.

Final roster announced on Thursday is probably fantastic news. This is a sign that Jalonen is indeed keeping the door open for more NHL players and I'm hoping that the amount of them is big. So they will leave the team announcing as late as possible it seems.

I'm hoping we won't get a roster announcement until Tuesday. Why? Because Jalonen likely already knows what players he has a chance of getting from overseas if they end up getting eliminated. And if MiG and/or Tolvanen are among those names, they might make the tournament opener if the Preds get swept. So if Jalonen won't release the roster tomorrow, it's likely because he wants to see what happens in Nashville first.

I completely agree. Looks like the date is Thursday. I'm excited. Jalonen is taking more risks than what we are used to. He's not locking up the team early as he usually does. It's the right move in my opinion.

That article had interesting detail. They will wait until Thursday before "stamping" the players. So until that day we wait with NHL. Must mean some big name has said yes.

So if series are over in 5 games, they can join. 6 and 7 is too late. Imo shoukd wait until game 6 wirh Barkov.

I bet you that if Barkov goes out in game 7 latest, then we will get Barkov for this WHC. As long as Barkov isn't mentally completely checked out, because of the devastating disappointment of the NHL playoffs. This is once in his career chance to play a home tournament in Tampere though. Let's hope that he doesn't get injured also.

I haven't watched him play. Just checked on stats and bought into the hype :).
He is very much like Björninen but harder body and more physical. He has been important piece in the best line in SHL with Omark and Andreasson (signed by Red Wings).

Leipistö btw have 15 points in 15 games in Playoffs. He is totally dominating. I would say he is better than Hietanen. How did Lepistö never have any success in NHL is a mystery for me.

Innala signed with Frölunda if anyone missed it.

I'll predict that we get minimum 1, maybe 2 SHL finalist in the team when the team gets announced on Thursday.

So game 7 could be on Thursday evening. Finland announces the final roster right after maybe lol.

How many wins per team in the SHL finals? When is the game 7? I'll predict that we get minimum 1, maybe 2 SHL finalist in the team when the team gets announced on Thursday.
Its a seven game series. Right now its 3-2 to Luleå. Game 6 today, if Färjestad wins today its game 7 on thursday.

Honka is another finn who is doing good.

Yeah I noticed that before about Honka, but I'm not sure is it enough for him. I'd need to watch the games to make a better judgement on him. Lepistö, Honka and Tyrväinen stood out with stats. Lepistö had some insane minutes in that one OT game.

We will get a monster team. All signs point to that when Jalonen & Lehtinen set the roster announcement date to Thursday. Only problem is if they want to get a lot of NHL 1st round exit players, will they have enough skaters for Norway game. It takes time to travel and so on. It might get tight. I wonder how fast they can get this done. Send the private planes already lol.

I'll list when these NHL series could end earliest in Finnish time - I'll sort them by earliest possible series end dates:

Tuesday:
COL-NSH - Tuesday morning - Colorado 4-0 is very likely.
-Mi.Granlund, Tolvanen

Wednesday:
EDM-LAK - Wednesday morning - Edmonton wins 4-1. Possible considering last game was a 8-2 away win.
-Määttä, Kupari (does Jalonen have interest for him? I think not)

Thursday:
FLA-WSH - Thursday morning - Washington wins 4-1. Unlikely, because Florida was so good in the regular season.
-Barkov, Lundell, Luostarinen, Lindbohm

NYR-PIT - Thursday morning - Pittsburgh wins 4-1. Unlikely, because NYR was better in the regular season.
-Kakko

Friday:
CAR-BOS - Friday morning - one of the teams win 4-2 in G6. Very possible that G7 isn't needed, but who wins?
-Haula, TT, Kotkaniemi, Raanta OR Haula

MIN-STL - Friday Morning = Minnesota wins 4-2 in G6.

Saturday:
CGY-DAL - Saturday morning - Calgary wins 4-2. Unlikely, because Dallas leads by 1-2 now.
-Heiskanen, Lindell, Hakanpää, Hintz, Kiviranta

TOR-TBL - No Finnish players.

Swedish Finals / SHL - possible game 7 = Thursday evening.

IIHF Rules say that a registered players list must be given when tournament starts. So Thursday isn't the last date if Jalonen wants to delay that even more. 15 non goalies have to be named when the tournament starts. Do note that Jalonen has already delayed this roster announcement date once. Lehtinen said some days ago that they would announce the roster on Sunday evening or on Monday, but it didn't happen. It will be on Thursday.

So if Jalonen is bold enough, he could do this for Norway game:

x-x-x
x-x-x
x-x-x

x-x
x-x
x-x

That leaves 7 open slots for NHL players. At this point Granlund and Tolvanen could already be with the team, so they wouldn't be included in that number of 7.

It sounds pretty unrealistic that he would do that and it may not be needed. The opponent is Norway on Friday though and the day after is Latvia. They aren't impossible opponents so Jalonen definitely doesn't need to dress 4 full lines if the planes of our reinforcements haven't landed yet, but how tired would those players be after back to back days with missing players. I don't think it would hurt the defenders as much as the forwards as 3 defensive pairs is quite normal in some leagues.

It is not true. They gave the list as they promised. But registration of players (in Directorate) is on Thurseday. No one in no team can be "checked in" (passi leimattu) before that. They can not name NHL guys before their games are over there (ethical and legal reasons). And as there are really big names out there the situation lives on. But mostly in dreams. The guys named today are reality. And knowing his history the amount of additions will anway be 1-3 players max. More probable is that the the number is 0 and the guys named today will play.

Yeah, they *don't* call it the final roster, but simply say, "cuts made". Lehtinen says in the article, "The first selections will be made on Thursday, when we register players. Until then, we will keep watching players in the NHL and the SHL."

Yes, they must have that provisional "yes" from someone overseas. And looking at the playoff picture, it's likely someone from Nashville. And despite all we've said about Tolvanen (and yes, still would have him), there's only one player in the Preds really worth holding out for.

Mentioning the SHL is also curious. Who do we have in the finals they could be interested in? Would Tyrväinen really be someone they'd add over the present selection? Or is it Lepistö they're looking at?

This being said, I'd definitely keep the expectations tempered. There's probably no more than the oft-mentioned 4 skater spots left on Thursday (even if the rules say they can have as many as 7), and the only players from overseas who could still be included in that first 18 are the Nashville guys. At most, I can see Jalonen gambling with less than four full forward lines for the tournament opener vs. Norway if the possible addition(s) don't quite make it for Friday, but will be available for the next game. So keep your monsters in your pants, fellas.

In my opinion it's Lepistö. They have already asked him and they are just checking that he won't get injured. They cut more defenders than forwards. NHL defenders aren't such sure bets as someone from European league. It could be a small sign.

Now there are 8 defenders and 15 forwards on the camp. For Jalonen who always runs his 4 defensive pairings, it's an uneven number with 4 defensive pairs and 5 forward lines. It could be both Lepistö & Tyrväinen, so Tyrväinen as a bottom line forward to replace Mäenalanen if Mäenalanen can't continue. Seems like Tyrväinen can play wing as well. The fact that Mäenalanen was named to still be on the next roster that gathers on Tuesday doesn't mean anything. They could still be checking on his health status.

Removed from the camp: Ojamäki, Nenonen, Kaski, Maalahti, Saarijärvi, Westerholm
-2 forwards gone
-3 defenders gone
-1 goalie gone

Sihvonen on MTV3 video clip suggested (I think it was from last night's "Tulosruutu" program) that Jalonen should wait for players and lock the team little bit before USA game.

Just read from word to word what Lehtinen said last night:
"Nyt selvillä on ryhmä, joka kokoontuu tiistaina Tampereelle. Ensimmäiset kisapassit leimataan kuitenkin vasta torstaina, eli siihen asti tarkkailemme edelleen Ruotsissa ja NHL:ssä pelaavia pelaajia ja lopullinen MM-joukkueen kokoonpano lyödään lukkoon vasta myöhemmin, GM Jere Lehtinen kertoi."

So Thursday definitely isn't any kind of deadline for Jalonen & Lehtinen. It will be interesting to see how greedy they will get, but I like seeing this. I want to see some bigger names in this tournament, because it's a home tournament and also I'm bit tired of almost never seeing many of our bigger names playing in these tournaments because Jalonen always locks the teams up early, although I shouldn't complain that the goldfinger has brought us some insane success with his old methods, but I like this new gambling Jalonen.

Jalonen and Lehtinen noticed how strong the other top teams' rosters are getting and they remember the fact how Finland dominated Canada in the 2021 WHC final 5on5 but when it got to OT it was clear that the advantage shifted to Canada who had some better individuals for 3on3 to decide the game. It is indeed individuals that often decide these games so Finland needs more of that as well.

No love for Valtteri Kemiläinen or Julius Honka from Jalonen; oder was?!

Too flashy - and fast forward - defensive players for him perhaps. But not for me, remember.

Juhani Tyrväinen, the Finnish bulldog, should be in that Finland squad. And that easy.
Just look at him and his battle-scarred face. Wears an A in Luleå.

Juuso Hietanen: his time is ... over and out.

There will be new players from both NHL and and Elitserien (SHL) in the Finland squad.
And pretty nice so.

Even if the majority of the players will be (Finland) Olympic heroes in this home tournament - Jukka Jalonen is not a total stubborn idiot; he got eyes too see with, ya see - and he seems to see that this Finland team needs reinforcements . And that bad.

So, NHL/SHL players incomin'!

Honka's season is still not over, for all we know he might get injured in the last game so adding him makes no sense. Same with Tyrvainen if he was even considered.

I clearly understand why Jukka Jalonen stand by his own new version fortification-line of the old Mannerheim-line (-39). No backing down there. And never change a winning team and that ol' blah, blah, blah ...

But Finland needs new gunpowder ... or rather gunpower from the back-line. More mobile troops on the blue line - instead of the ol' heavy warhorses.

To win it all.

Dont forget about AHL playoffs. There is probaly some quality finns there.
I doubt nobody from there is under the radar. With Tampere boys out there - Barkov & Hintz, the rest is marginal after now possibly MiG and Tolvanen available are possible exceptions. There are enough Olympic Gold medal winners and World Champions Jalonen trusts. He will not shake the roster with kids 100%.
