We already saw glimpses of that last year - the guy has a bomb of a shot.

On another note, I was wondering why Malmö's Roman Horak isn't on the roster. He played a fantastic tournament last year as centre of your 4th line. Aren't you short on good centres?

It was already mentioned he' s injured.

Whoever is second behind Hronek is not even close IMO. I think Rutta would be our best PP guy is Hronek wasn't around and he's not Hronek. My gut tells me Hronek will have a very good season for Detroit next season.
If he'll be drafted by a good team for developing young players (no Detroit pls) I think Martin Hugo Has will be excellent defenseman sooner or later. He is huge, already playing abroad ... Maybe future partner for Hronek in national team's 1st defense pair :thumbu:

I hope you're right but Martin Has has dropped like a stone. He went from being a potential first rounder to a 3rd or 4th rounder now. He didn't do enough, to my eye, at the WC18's to show me someone made a mistake and he's a first rounder. Currently I have him in a pool with guys like Salda and Kral of people that get drafted in later rounds and hopefully break through as they get older.

Hajek looks like a keeper. I've mentioned several times that Zboril and Masin should've at least got tryouts for the team to see how they compare to our Europeans because I'll bet anything they're further ahead.

A nation of wingers!

Zboril should be today on the ice vs Russia. No doubt. Nonsense from czech management to not to take him.

Even if they don't make the team... you would have a REALLY hard time convincing me that Zboril/Masin are not better than David Musil/Krejcik/Kundratek/Kolar today. And I love David Musil and the Holik's. But Musil is a throwback player.. he's Derrian Hatcher. I wouldn't even be mad if he was our 7th Dman.

At some point next season Masin and Zboril will end up in the NHL (maybe not for Tampa and Boston) and cement themselves as NHL players and people will be wondering 'where did they come from'?

Look at Simek and how he went to AHL and is now a bonafide NHL player. They STILL talk about him in SJ games and how his injury was not good for the Sharks. They also talk about the Kempny injury and how it really hurt Washington as both those guys 'fit in' really well.

It was great to see Pastrnak and Hertl dominating last night! I know it'll hurt the National team but I really want a SJ/Boston final. I'd be fine picking up Francouz as our third goalie as a consolation for losing those guys. I do wonder if Francouz would come as he's UFA.

This our team is pleasure to watch. And it's mainly thanks to speed. Thanks god for our young NHL guys who came. They add this hockey skill we lacked in other EHT tournaments. :thumbu:

You are right :)
But never in doubt that we are having really bad scoring efficiency as every year, but it seems that at least we shoot more.

No idea how Repik pulled that off... a beauty Euro line - Repik, Kubalik and Hanzl

Kovar again :help: with Bartosak it'd be 1:1. With Kovar it's 1:3  he is not in good shape during whole pretournament phase

The way Hronek was playing towards the end of the season after he got called up from the Griffins was really good. I like how he has some grit to his game, and can get under other players skin. He impressed a lot of us Red Wings fans, should have a bright future.

The 4th was no Kovar's fault.lol

The win yesterday and the loss today don't mean that much in the grand scheme of things. I hope this helps the coaches realize who should be on the team and who shouldn't.

If Riha cuts even one NHL Czech and I will be so disapointed.

Maybe Kovar is rounding into form with all these games? I mean, he is a good goalie...

Simon was playing so well. He deserved that goal so much  bad luck for him today.

My cuts are:

F: Cerveny, Fort, Zatovic, H. Zohorna, Rousek and Tomasek

D: Krejcik, Kolar

For me Tomasek was on the same level as Hanzl for last spot on the roster, but Hanzl is excellent penalty shot specialist.

How far I'll be from reality?

Official roster is:

G:
Jakub Kovář (Jekatěrinburg, KHL)
Patrik Bartošák (HC VÍTKOVICE RIDERA), Šimon Hrubec (HC Oceláři Třinec).

D:
Radko Gudas (Philadelphia, NHL),
Jan Rutta (Tampa Bay, NHL),
Filip Hronek (Detroit, NHL),
David Sklenička (Laval, AHL),
Michal Moravčík (HC Škoda Plzeň),
Jan Kolář (Chabarovsk, KHL),
Petr Zámorský (Mountfield HK),
David Musil (HC Oceláři Třinec).

F:
Jakub Voráček (Philadelphia, NHL),
Ondřej Palát (Tampa Bay, NHL),
Michael Frolík (Calgary, NHL),
Dominik Simon (Pittsburgh, NHL),
Dmitrij Jaškin (Washington, NHL),
Jakub Vrána (Washington, NHL),
Filip Chytil (New York, Rangers, NHL),
Robin Hanzl (Spartak Moskva, KHL),
Michal Řepík (Podolsk, KHL),
Tomáš Zohorna (Chabarovsk, KHL),
Dominik Kubalík (Ambri-Piotta, SUI),
David Tomášek (Jyväskylä, Finsko),
Hynek Zohorna (Lahti, Finsko),
Jan Kovář (HC Škoda Plzeň)

Nedved is waiting only for Francouz, Hertl, Pasta or Krejci as additions. No one else.

They named 25 but guys can still get cut. 3 spots seem available.. 3rd goalie... Etc.

I'm happy for Music. As a 5/6 he could be great. They don't seem to know game 7 is Wednesday for both series. They sound like they think there are weeks left here lol

They said they have agreement with Francouz if Colorado gets kicked out

Listening to him talk about top 5 pairs and bottom 5 pairs... This press conference could've been in 1975!

Yeah, it might be an option to dress 12+7, and see how the situation in the NHL playoffs is developing.

I would say it's good nomination, no shocking omission, good mix of veteran/youngth players. Also it's not final roster, because at least one of Hertl/Francouz (barring injury) will join the team.

For the players alone, I am happy Tomášek is in. I didn't expect Kundrátek cut, but on the right side was big competition (Gudas, Hronek, Rutta). Also didn't expect Zaťovič cut, he was offered spot on the team, but with no guarantee he will actually play. So he decided to leave the spot for younger players. I trust in Miloš Říha and believe he had good hand in the selection.

Now only hope the team click together well and they do a decent job on WHC. I like always will cheer for them. Češi do toho!

Pls hockey God don't let us play against USA in QF as every year

I don't know why they didn't mention Faksa. His serie is tied 3:3. He is best def center we have. It's weird.

Good to see Tomasek make the squad, only matter of time before he gets signed by an NHL team. The talent is there. Hopefully both Boston and San Jose advance so he gets to play. Moravcik and Musil make it, yet Sulak was completely ignored? Terrible decision. Unlikely, but I would like to see Bartosak be the starter, another player with NHL upside. Kovar was shaky at best in the pre-tournament games. Ideally we get Francouz though, easily NHL quality goalie in my opinion, got a bit screwed around by Colorado unfortunately.

No idea about Masin, but Zboril didn't look NHL ready in his couple games he got up with the Bruins. And I agree he needs to traded if he wants at least some chance to make the NHL team, he is buried deep on the Boston depth chart.

Faksa is probably a "young", not fully established NHLer in coaches eyes, who would need to be tested first. He was bad at the last WHC and didn't have the best NHL season either, but if his team gets kicked he should be an easy invite.
