I'd love to see Wilson there just for the curiosity and experimental aspect of it. Not sure it would be extremely effective, but it would be interesting. Considering he was on the long list for the Olympics I would be somewhat surprised if Hockey Canada doesn't reach out, assuming that there is a spot available.

We won't be getting McDavid. Too bad because he was amazing in Game 7.

Best player in the world BY FAR !!!!

There's no way he'd come anyway tbh. Oilers have choked too many times in the past, don't think he'd be in the mood.

He will play, on the line with Batherson and Johnson.

nice. I like it. pre-tournament I thought PLD Barzal Batherson would be the way I'd go playing fantasy coach/gm. but PLD was a beast playing center in the first game. best to keep him there.

Sorry for OT, but is the commentator from Tampere, the one who covers Jets ?

Dennis Beyak, yes, is doing the games in Tampere. His NHL beat was the Winnipeg Jets regional broadcasts. He's now retired from that gig. He'll be doing international games for a few more years.

TSN has Mike Johnson ad Gord Miller.

Sleepy first period for Canada, not really anything of note.

I don't mind a tough period against lesser opponents. It does get the players attention.

Exactly. This means absolutely nothing, the players have just been not focusing on their game. As soon as they start playing for real, they're gonna smash Italy completely.

Ah yes I didn't clue in that Canada was in the Helsinki group due to Russian oligarchs owning the big arena. Had wrongly assumed that Canada was in the Tampere group.

and another point, Nick Paul's WHC experience last year paid off in this year's playoffs. just saying. young players should take note.

Agreed, use it as a stepping stone. I do not mind established players turning down the tournament time and again (though they should keep A list tournaments in mind) but young guys should take the tournament for the opportunity it is. My favourite example of this is MacKinnon in 2017. The guy who was dominant at the 2017 tournament did not resemble the MacKinnon who played in the NHL that year, but he did look a lot like the dominant MacKinnon who returned to the NHL for the 2018 season.

Thanks ! I don't know but he always sounds to me like he is totally wasted...

Team is looking great. I’d move Roy down onto the 3rd and move Barzal with Batherson (who is somewhat of a trigger man, if I’m not mistaken?)

Worth noting: in Comtois post game interview he said " I'll never turn down a chance to play for my country when asked"

After the bullshit anti French thing he took after that WJC and he still gives and answer like that.

He will always have a place on this guys team, good on you Comtois!!
