Matheson has played the tournament a few times before. He was named best defenceman one year, which was funny because he was on the third pairing. He looked good internationally though.

Sabres are doing a great defensive job and he hasn't faced many shots yet to be fair but he's made a couple nice ones when called upon.

Watched quite a bit of Skinner this year, he's o.k, nothing special...........he's better then Campbell at least.

Levi just made a great save, post to post he's so good.

It's physically impossible for me to come up with a team of no-namers. This is as pessimistic as I can get. I can watch this team compete for a medal. Any further down the depth chart and I'll just skip the Skodas this year altogether.

Indeed he was. Terrible at the olympics but he was ok at the world championships.

Yeah Couture has never gone. Cut repeatedly from the WJC as well, even at 19.

Massive Oil fan and obviously a big international fan.

First time I saw Stu's named mentioned for Canada I laughed.

Now.. I'm glad others are starting to mention his name. A lot of people consider the Oil a Cup Contender and he's the 1G on that team. And that is not a great D (it's a good one but not a great one) in front of him.

He leads all Canucks in wins with 25.

4th in save percentage at .911 behind Hill (.915), Thompson (.915) and Kuemper (.911).

Given Kuemper was won a cup and a skoda.. he'd be my most obvious starter. But I do think Stu could argue for a top 3 spot.

Posted the 2nd best save percentage in NCAA history, behind Hellebuyck, ahead of Ryan Miller, both of those guys are pretty good goalies. At the 2021 World Junior tournament that was loaded with star players and prospects, he was the best player not named Zegras and put up record-breaking numbers for goalies at the World Juniors (0.75 GAA, .964 sv%). The year before he played at the World Junior A Challenge for Canada East and he carried them to that gold medal game where they lost to Askarov and the Russians. From Jr A, to World Juniors, to NCAA, he just kept dominating at the higher levels he went up to, and that game vs the Rangers on Friday has so many Sabres and Canadian hockey fans excited for what the future holds.

Think of him as like a Tim Thomas/Juuse Saros small goalie type that can stop pucks at a legitimately high level. Probably the best Canadian goalie prospect since Carey Price, and he was picked 5 spots from dead last in the draft in 2020.
