WC: TEAM CANADA 2023

It is basically no problem because they have 7 games in the group stage and they 99% will make the QF, where the "real" tournament begins. So they can easily take 3-4 group stage games purely as preparation games.
It's irritating only in the sense that every year you get the usual European fans here who drop by only to say after a loss to or uninspiring victory over say Latvia.. " why Kanada play so bad can't even handle Latvia? " they live for that childish shit.

Then comes the medal rounds and when they see they are getting Canada reality sets in and you know they are going " holy shit we have to play Canada, oh oh!!"

And the you won't see them until the early games next year, they f*** off real quick until it's safe again to take a few cracks when the opportunity presents itself..........................early in the tournament.

Wish we could get rid of those clowns on this site.

It is a popular opinion among European fans that Canadian players are cocky, arrogant and so on, so many European fans are always happy when Canada is losing. It is a bit like when fotball/soccer fans are happy when, say, Real Madrid is losing, because "hey, Real always wins, cool to see them lose once in a while."

They should look in the f***ing mirror.

The European fans, players and media are not exactly known for their reasonableness, truthfulness or humility.

I don't exactly know where this opinion originated from. Regarding Czech fans in particular, I remember the 1997 WCH, when Canada started a completely needless fight with some 2 minutes remaining in a game which was effectively lost for them, a Czech player suffered concussion due to that, and the Canada coach (I believe it was A. Murray) had some really stupid and cocky proclamation after the game. I believe many Czech fans hate Canada since this incident. But of course it was 26 years ago, one team, one game. It is pretty silly to judge Canadian hockey based on that incident.

now we need just few names

I remember reading an interview in the press after I believe the 1999 WHC where Martin Rucinsky was asked some sort of question revolving around the Czech hockey program and his answer was.." it's simple, we're the best"

Not that he was wrong at the time but you rarely ever hear that out of a hockey players mouth with such self assured braggadocio in that kind of situation, I can't recall hearing anything like that out of one of our players in an interview be it at the WHC or juniors and i've watched a million player interviews after wins at these things.

it was quite something, no ego there!!

I'd invite you to view this roster:IIHF - Canada

before getting too worked up about some of the players who will be on the roster. Yeah, Lucic is about four years past his best before date, but Canada always sends guys who may not really belong.

As I said: Every country has players who can be a bit cocky time to time. It is not about nationality at all. Czech fans are used to say such things about Canadians (and Russians), but I think it is unwarranted. Rather the contrary: Watching World Juniors on TSN, I was quite impressed many times how seriously not only Canadian commentators, but also coaches in the interviews take opponents like, say, Latvia, Denmark, Norway. I think these stereotypes about nations in hockey (just like elswhere) are exactly stereotypes and superstitions.

They are????

Beggars cannot be choosers so I'm grateful for anyone who is willing to go.

P.S. Lucic isn't 4 years past his best before date - more like 6, but, again, thanks for your service Milan.

Yes, often. But You know how "pub fans" are. They are often not the smartest guys around. I mean, there are many intelligent hockey fans, but I am talking about the "pub experts" drinking their fifth beer and complaining about how the coach is an idiot and what they would do in his place.

Never expected Lucic or Myers. I don't think Lucic has ever played for Canada outside of the junior super series from 2008.

I will be quite displeased if Levi is not the starter.

Best scenario.

Toffoli-?-?
Crouse-McBain-Quinn
Laughton-Veleno-?
?-Lucic-?

But I guess it could be more like

Toffoli-McBain-Crouse or something for the 1.line.

Horvat/DeBrusk/MacKinnon and a Crosby in the mix would be the dream. Throw in Marchand for the whole "Nova Scotia"-line.

Other names from the late exits of SC could be: Bertuzzi, Hagel, Cirelli, Stamkos, Killorn, Hall, Pulock, Dobson, Pageau, Lafreniere, Dubois, Byfield, Vilardi, Dumba, Gaudreau, Steel, Rodrigues++

So really a big list to get atleast 3-4 good names.
