I know about the accusation and I've followed all publicly available information as far as I know. I'm very confident that you don't know whether a rape even occurred despite your claim, but if you do then by all means contact the London police and give them that evidence.

There was never any confirmation concerning his place on the team. I saw a short blurb earlier way back in this thread when the regular season ended saying he was " considering it" nothing more and not a peep about it since.

Not a lot of Canadian players on either New Jersey or the Rangers - depending on who loses.

As I said before, if I'm the Rangers - assuming they lose, I send LAF to Finland/Latvia - tell him he can either go to Latvia / Finland in May or the AHL in September. His choice.

My conclusion is that I don't know what happened and have only read the information that has been publicly released. I'm not pretending to know what happened. Since you are calling players rapists, you either know what happened and should contact the police or you're talking out of your ass. I don't see any other possibility.

We worry every year and every year the team is pretty good.

I can see how the players don't want to go. After I finish a LONG shift of cleaning toilets at Walmart , the last thing I want is to come home and clean toilets.

So, they don't have to be in Europe until the 8th. one practice + one friendly is generally all the prep Hockey Canada does for this....

It is basically no problem because they have 7 games in the group stage and they 99% will make the QF, where the "real" tournament begins. So they can easily take 3-4 group stage games purely as preparation games.

I remember an idiot Russian hockey reporter 7-8 years ago claiming that Hockey Canada not preparing for WHC was unfair to other teams because by not preparing Team Canada is in effect preps more than any other team. typical Russian gobbledygook.

I agree, exactly the kind of player who should take that opportunity. He won't be on this level but Nathan MacKinnon was dominant in the 2017 tournament after a few disappointing years and then became an elite NHLer the next season. There's no guarantee of that happening of course (and it's not as simple as the tournament made him great) but it's basically the ideal situation you hope for.

Has Ryan Smyth announced yet? Or Shane Doan?

I'd expect the bulk of the team announcement by tomorrow. First round ends and the management group now knows exactly who they can ask/pick from/plead.

Eh I don't think that it matters that much. If he's interested he'll go. It gives an easily digested excuse if he didn't want to go in the first place, which is quite possible.
