WC: TEAM CANADA 2023

Nice, credit to him if true. You'd like to see him well insulated in a depth role on a talented roster ideally but... we'll see. I hope he can do some damage.

I saw the headline "Top NHL Draft Pick to Play for Canada in May" and got excited. Thought Bedard had a change of heart. As it turned out it was just click bait Adam Fantilli...maybe will play??? What a buzzkill with my morning cup of joe. But good for him for showing up. I have, however, zero expectations for him to play any significant role and produce. Hopefully the experience convinces him that he would be better served staying at Michigan for another season.

He's got a perfect game for the Skoda's. I'm not sure why so many crapped on him at U20's... in the Gold game he was by far one of the best Canucks. Another Canuck star incoming IMO.

Yeah, he didn't have a particularly great tournament. Yes, he played well in the GMG, but one game is not a tournament make. And I don't see how pointing that out is crapping all over him.
My expectations for him at the Skodas, you know the tournament he has the perfect game for, is 4 pts that he'll collect against tournament heavyweights Kazakhstan and Slovenia. If we can't get Bedard to accept the opp to get in some reps with NHLers prior to the draft, my second choice would be for Shane Wright to accept the invite should he become available in the next week.

But If I'm wrong, and Fantilli impresses, then beers in the beer tent at next year's Prague tournament are on me prior to the Canada v Cesko game.

Dissapointed to not see Bedard there, but after reading the comments here it makes some sense. Was hoping for a "kid line" with McTavish and Johnson. Maybe there's still hope for the other two to join?

I agree that he was better than he is given credit for. He was clearly trying to do too much early on and rightfully dropped, but then he became a good contributor from the fourth line. It may not sound like much, but plenty of highly hyped prospects have dropped down the depth chart and disappeared. Fantilli still managed to generate offence and was consistent away from the puck. He even got to see the ice in the overtime of the gold medal game.

Yes my expectations are similarly low. If he does show up and perform, all the better. I hope that he has a good experience, gets some perspective on what the next level will take, and comes back as an impact player a few years down the road.

What a frustrating team. Just like Toronto, they are painful to watch / root for.
Being a Czech and Oil fan the last decade has not been easy.lol

The series is amazing though! 2-2... 3 games to OT and the other one wasn't decided till the very last minute in regulation. No idea who wins. King's have played great and I'm really starting to hate them for it.lol

I think the Oilers pull this off in 7.

Guys like Joel Hofer and Tyson Foerster from the AHL are out of the playoffs there, I wouldn't mind giving them reps if were getting declines.

Any chance for Stamkos, Point? They don't have gold medals from IIHF WC.
You counting Tampa out ? We are talking about Toronto here. They are known to blow leads and years of not getting past first round. Let’s wait and see

By the way I do want Toronto to go far. Im a Canadian hockey fan and want a Canadian hockey team to win. Just so bettman can curse

Saw someone figured out there are 16 teams in the NHL play-offs and of the 16, there is one (1) canuck starting goalie. (and that one is Skinner who currently is standing on a banana peel).
That's a scary stat and really points out how bad the 'tender situation is. Everything considered we're in OK shape for this years Skoda's but moving forward, until we fix this, we're going to have to score some goals to win anything.

Big news out of the sweden camp concerning Dahlin and EP now having to pull out due to their federation not willing to ante up the money for a big insurance bill,

Finland must be snickering at this point, tournament at home again and all the advantages that affords them to begin with and can count on a higher percentage of accepts from the players.

All the more reason to get riled up and take them down as underdogs IMO

I have Family in Calgary , they said that Mangipane and Huberdeau, Weegar will go for WC

From the USA thread, I think this better explains it:

No Dahlin didn't pass medical and Swedish federetaion was prepared to pay the insurance of Pettersson's current contract but Canucks decided they want them to pay insurance of a future contract that's not even signed yet.

It should be obvious that Dahlin is indeed injured. Because if there was an insurance situation similar to with Vancouver, the Swedish federation would've made it publicly with Buffalo as well.

The good news - Winnipeg is out.

The bad news - any player worthy of an invite is either LTIR or RFA.

Still slim pickings.
