WC: TEAM CANADA 2023

No needs for Juniors in a senior sport, In North America you cant buy a beer before your 21 , then dont go to Finland

i think that bedards no go is bad decision. he could taste profesional man hockey before nhl debut and worlds is absolutly ideal for that. yes i know, there are some concern of injury, but injury can happend anytime and anywear.

Yeah, I think I'm just going to work on my 2024 Prague Powerhouse team starting now and skip this year's event. It's too bad, but other things will keep me busy and BBQ season is almost upon us.

To be fair, he hasn't had a ton of off time.

He played in U18 last year and then world JR's in the summer and went straight to the WHL. Probably could use some time off.

Yeah Bedard should get no grief. He's had an overstuffed season already. He probably grew up wanting to play in the WJCs and the NHL, one of which he did twice this season and the other he will do in a few months, not the IIHF wc. He can get a few reps in after the years to come.

Looking at the guys who have been invited I don't think we should expect a talented team. Credit as always to any player who shows up and I wish them the best but it's tough to get invested in this tournament, for myself, without some interest in how certain players look. If a few promising young players end up on the team it will change things a lot for me.

The discrepancies in roster strength for Team Canada year over year is wild to me. Look at the 2015 roster. For whatever reason, a bunch of superstars just said “let’s just go have a wagon team and win it all easily”, which of course did happen. Then, other years, Ethan Bear is one of your best d-men. Lmao.

Canada's sent pretty piss poor talent for a few years now. From 2012-2018 those teams, with the exception of the 2014 Olympic year, were loaded for this tournament even if the results didn't always show up. I think it's partly due to the lack of best on best hockey removing pressure for players to accept. There are other factors (randomness, a dip in Canada's talent production) but I do think the NHL f***ing around with best on best hockey has impacted this tournament.

Nice, credit to him if true. You'd like to see him well insulated in a depth role on a talented roster ideally but... we'll see. I hope he can do some damage.
He's got a perfect game for the Skoda's. I'm not sure why so many crapped on him at U20's... in the Gold game he was by far one of the best Canucks. Another Canuck star incoming IMO.

Had an insane 2nd half to the college season after that tournament, all against the bigger and best college teams too.
