That argument is so silly.

Its like trading your best D man for Malkin and saying you got the 2nd best forward from Pens. Who cares? you got Malkin, and his individual skill level is all that matters.

Silly or not, losing Hall is not a major dent in Edm's fwd pool, they remain beyond stacked.

Losing Larsson creates a big hole in NJ. So if they wanted him, they would have to over pay. They did, and I think it makes edm a better team because of it. And it is about becoming a better team right? Edmonton's problems the last bunch of years has been the opposite, a vast collection of individual parts, but not a complete roster.

I did say "arguably" and I stand by that, still need to see McDavid do it for more than just one year, I remember RHN's rookie year he looked like the greatest thing since sliced bread, you just never know how they will progress.
We should have demanded McDavid then.:sarcasm:

Lol Shero said if he was trading larsson the line was hall and if they weren't going to do hall then he was going to ask for mcdavid hahaha that was the only way he was trading larsson was for those two. There was also rumors of severson plus for rnh but I don't think Shero wanted rnh let alone add a plus to severson

Yes, you are right. But it doesnt make any sense to make such comparisons after the trade. That is something, and im sure it was, Shero used as leverage, as a position in the negotiations. But after the trade, all that matters is what does Hall bring to the NJD table and what did NDJ lose. Whether it leaves EDM as a better team, is irrelevant. Especially since EDM is in West.

Ah yeah, that's all I'm saying. Leverage, not fear of making our competition better.

Not really a lopsided trade. Hall has some character issues and Larson is a stand up individual with more intangibles that don't show up in the stat sheet.

Where is the proof in this? Please provide some evidence because I have not heard this. He has been in a losing environment but you can't blame him for terrible management.

lmao this is amazing. He's an ideal fit. I forgot what it was like to have a great young forward. It's been so long. I wasn't all that excited for the season before this trade. Now I wanna get season tickets. Shero helped put butts in seats and filled a need. Bravo.

Also I was thinking of where Hall fits in, in terms of best wingers in the league. Ovechkin, Benn, Kane, Tarasenko are probably are viewed as better right now. First 3 for sure. Is he #5? Love Larsson but he is a #2 and doesn't have #1 offensive upside, and we just got the fifth best winger in the league for him?

He's a young, talented, good looking dude on a crap team, of course he'll be branded as a diva or locker room problem. It's been done time and time again.

He had a horrible reputation at Windsor for being a 'the world revolves around me' type and it did carry to Edmonton abit. He has matured a little in his defense.

Being one of the best players in the world at a young age will do that...I'm sure being shipped out will humble him a bit.

You're bringing up his reputation from when he was 17 years old? Really?

There has been literally NOTHING in his time in the NHL that points to any character issues.

Please don't give me evidence from when he was 17, it is 100% irrelevant. I haven't seen anything substantial so I'd like to see an article. Not disputing it, but I'd like to see the proof.

Sure. He didn't have any friction with Dallas Eakins. :D:popcorn:

I still think Edm had a pretty clear edge, but yeah I could see that playing into it a little.

And Larsson didnt have any with DeBoer. **** happens.

But the Hall/Eakins feud played out in public and was far more pronounced. Look Hall isn't a boyscout and for a 24 year old PPG fwrd lockd up until 2020, we can deal with his shortcomings.

Actually the fact that Lars never let it turn into something shows his solid character.

I could see it being a thing, not a huge factor, but a piece of the puzzle.

An eastern conference scout said he "hasn't heard anything bad on him, even if he's not like a Jonathan Toews-like leader".

If Hall had an attitude or issues like that, we'd know.

The only reason Larsson/Deboer didnt was because of where Larsson plays. No one cares about the Devils.

You don't remember this?

No one is saying Hall is a boyscout, but referring to coach/player friction as "character issues" is ridiculous and your first "evidence" was pointing to Hall's junior days. Eakins was also a terrible coach in a bad organization. Coaches and players aren't always going to be on the best of terms, and this goes for virtually every level of every sport. These are strong willed personalities that can clash.
