Thank you and you are right. Lars is getting roasted for no reason. He is a really good one and Edmonton did well to get him.

Still we are happy with Hall as we needed a forward of his talent level ever since Zach and Kovy left.

lol, you have to see the humor in a team like Edmonton, with the defensive competence of a potato for the past decade, melting down over getting a young stud Defenceman (who actually plays defence).

I think all the great stuff about Hall has already been said in this thread. I'm surprised he hasn't hit the 30 goal mark yet. I guess Edmonton + injuries will do that to you. I can see him putting up 80pts (35+45) here in NJ. Though I would be happy even with 70 points.

Really gonna miss Larsson. Great kid. Edmonton is gonna love him. People calling this terrible for Edmonton are nuts. This trade benefited both teams.

Got all bummed for one split second when my brother told me Larsson was traded, and instantly perked up the second he said "...for Taylor Hall". Love Adam, hate that we'll have to fill the hole on the blue line that he's going to leave, but holy Jebus, you don't pass up on a one-for-one swap for a talent like Hall.

The way Larsson's getting undersold around the league illustrates how little the NHL media pays attention to any team that isn't in eastern Canada, an original six city, or Pennsylvania (fine, maybe St. Louis or LA get some attention, too). I can't count how many times we've heard over the past decade that the Devils still play in "the swamp" or that they're still "a trap-first team" or any other bit of nonsense. For years, any interview on NHL media about the Devils began and ended with questions about Lou and Marty, because none of the interviewers ever knew about any of the other players in the organization.

Due to this, people are seeing Larsson's offensive stat line and freaking out that he's "no better than a #3" or some such nonsense, because they haven't actually watched him or bothered to analyze his game beyond cursory glances. Edmonton got a really good one, here.

That said, it's understandable that Edmonton fans would be upset; Larsson is excellent, but it's perfectly reasonable to expect a larger return for Hall. On that front, the reaction makes more sense; you don't minimize what you can acquire for assets like that.

Saw it earlier in the thread, but we still have over $30 million in cap space, eh? Man. Have to figure there's something in the works to re-beef up the blue line, but with that kind of flexibility I have to think Shero wants to keep pushing ahead for big, fast skaters on offense. Does that mean Okposo? Do they throw the money at Demers, instead? Do you sign one, then try to address the other spot via trade? Whatever they do, this is as exciting as it's been to be a fan in ages.

Gotta feel for Larsson. He was dealt a rather crappy hand. Handled it very well, persevered, and actually wound up thriving in the end. He's now going to be "the guy we got for Hall" and that's going to be awfully hard to go through. He is absolutely criminally underrated across the league as people are acting like we traded Mike Mottau or something for Hall. I hope he does very well for Edmonton, have a soft spot for him. However, Hall is almost exactly what we need and you've gotta give to get. Hopefully creating one hole while filling another doesn't backfire on us though.

I come with a little different perspective on this trade.
I saw Adam break through in Sweden when he was very young. He playing full time in the SHL when he was 17. Not many players have ever done that. He was projected in Sweden to be the next big thing and did play to expectations when he represented Sweden at different tournaments. I followed his career and I remember I was actually disappointed he was selected 4th overall in that draft. The way he had performed until that point in his hockey career I thought he deserved better. I then got really frustrated how poorly he was misused in his 1st season with the devils showing him no faith stalling his development. In his 2nd season season I was starting to loose faith he was ever going to be the dman I thought he would be. Then finally he got someone to show faith in him and it seems he is starting to show what he can do the last 2 seasons. I hope he will get to show what he has in his locker.

Shero said the same thing, that we haven't has a talent like Hall since the Parise-Kovalchuk duo...and that getting Hall is a step in the right direction towards getting back there. I think Shero's grand vision includes adding another high-caliber forward at some point.

He'll hit 30 eventually. He's had 27 in 61..He's had the pace before. Just has to stay healthy. If he's point per game with 25 goals I'll be very happy.

I was playing a computer game when my brother texted me "I know you like Larsson but that trade had to be made", and my heart sank for a few minutes, then I pulled up HF and saw we got Hall, then it was all "well this is fine too".

Oilers fan here.

Hall will get 90 points. He's going to feast on the playstyle of the East.

No Wild/Nashville Trap. No Doughty/Keith or mega-sized California teams to contend with.

No matter how good you think Larsson is, most of us in Oil Country believe Hall is still a better player than Seguin.

He is going to make this trade look a lot more lopsided than we already think it is.

Wow, that's one heck of a trade for you guys. For the first time in ages, Devils got the type of player you could build a franchise around.

Congrats guys, looks like Devils hockey is set to comeback in a big way!

There are some less than glowing reports about Hall as a person, but I like that he came out with a chip on his shoulder.

Marty had some pretty awful reports on his personal life. Still the GOAT.

If he's a good teammate and he scores goals and gets assists, I hope Hall's a Devil for the next 10 years.

Injuries scare me a bit, but I have no doubt that he will thrive in the East. From reading the input from the Oils fanbase, we got ourselves a true gamer.

With McLeod and Hall in the mix, we are going to replace Parise's Heart and intangibles tenfold along with some ****ing speeeeeed.
