What are these playoffs that you speak of? :P

You're young. Back in my day, there was no such thing as a shootout, and the Devils actually won more often than they lost. Not by scoring goals, but by making sure the other team didn't score goals. Other teams actually knew who we were, and other fanbases actually cared enough to hate us. But that was a bygone era, another city, another goal song, different owners, different GM, different head coach.

Can't wait to see Hall light up the Rangers. Will be watching Devils games more often now.

Oilers fan, you got a helluva player, no quit balls to the wall. A lot of people like to talk about Hall as if he's stupid. They'll point to his turnovers, his tendency to lose the puck at the blue line and a perceived poor defensive game. It's basically all bogus. Hall attacks the defense, and does turn the puck over, but teams have to give him space, and that allows hall's incredibly underrated passing game to flourish. He's excellent at stopping up and finding the open trailer with a pass. He's also a born winner, despite what Edmonton's record might say. You got a good one and I'm sure he'll tear the EC a new one.

Regarding Larsson can anyone give me a more in depth scouting report, particularly interested in his ability to handle opposing forechecks and his ability to find players in stride with an outlet pass.

I was a big fan of Larsson and I definitely think he is being underrated in some of the post-trade commentary I have read here and on Twitter but I am so excited about this trade. Value wise we win, and we obtain that desperately needed high end talent that we aren't going to get anywhere else (we won't draft high enough to get it thanks to Schneider and we won't get it in free agency).

I feel optimistic and exhilarated and so excited to see this team in action next year. Thank you Shero!

Meanwhile poor Adam has been traded to Siberia.

Well he's got a familiar face in Mark Fayne there, brand new building opening up this year. That's all I can think of?

But I do think Edmonton's defense looks not too bad right now. I keep forgetting they have Sekara too, I forgot they signed him last year.
He'll be playing behind McDavid, Draistl, Eberle, Pulj, etc, and in front of capacity crowds.

Don't shed any tears for Lars, he'll be fine.

Those were the good old days. :thumbu:

He struggles with speed on the outside and his skating certainly isn't his strength but he is possibly the smartest guy on the ice at times. His hockey IQ is through the roof. Helps him make up for a lot of possible errors.

His outlet pass is awesome as well. One of his strengths. Always seems to find the guy he's looking for.

Overall, you'll be happy with him and the sting from Hall won't be bad a few months into the season.

Lar's is not a great skater, nor a big hitter, but he does play a physical game, and is able to move the puck really well out of scrums. Not a booming shot, but overall good puck skills and a smart player.

What does NJ's lineup look like with Hall/ without Larsson?

I'd imagine you need some help on the back end?

Already dreaming of the first time Hall makes Henry look stupid.

You think too small. I'm dreaming of Hall and Rico taking turns drinking from Lord Stanley's Cup while the only Rags programming on TV is reruns of Henry's custom masks on MSG.

Only thing that would make this trade better is if we had prior knowledge and drafted Chychrun or Bean. Happy as hell, and will miss Lars.
