An enticing part of the Leafs pitch to Tavares was that he’d be given the opportunity to play with Mitch Marner, according to sources, which is a not-insignificant fact when you consider he’s ninth in points per game league-wide since 2012 despite never having a winger anywhere close to that calibre.

Like MM needs it, but if JT could turn Matt Moulson into a 30-goal scorer, imagine what Mitchy and he will do on the same line next year.

With Leo and Bozak gone I think an Matthews will join Reilly as an A and JT will be named captain. In 7 years that may change once Tavares prime is over and Matthews takes over the role.
