If he has said this he's a trooper. Franchise has treated him poorly by surrounding him with limited talent through his prime years, relying on him to be the MVP of the league just to squeeze into an 8th spot in the playoffs and instantly lose round 1.

"[Long Island] seems like it fits me. You get everything you'd ever want here. I've been here since I was 19, so I have been able to experience a lot." Tavares said. "I really enjoy it here. I always say that people are always surprised when they come play here, how much they get recognized around town and how much the fans care and how much pride they take in the Islanders, that's something I always stress."

Galchenyuk will not outscore Tavares anytime soon.

''Challenge accepted.'' - Chucky

I will take that bet, i'm not even kidding. Tavares is better, obviously, but in today's NHL you cannot just skate around and put 80-120points on your own. Islanders arent bad, but they arent close to the Habs line-up and the sad part for Tavares is that he cant do it all on his own.

On the other hand, if Therrien can stop putting Byron or Flynn on the first line just to **** his players ice time, i'm pretty sure that Chucky can do more points with Pacioretty/Radulov/Gallagher/Weber/Markov than Tavares with his current teammates.

So i'll take that bet.

actually WRONG. even with a player of Tavare's quality in deal, the two hab players mentioned still don't equal quantity

watch the habs a bit more, because well...you don't

The habs players along with the picks for all intents and purposes in this scenario are literally a larger quantity of assets than Tavares alone, so this scenario makes them quantity. Tavares is the best player in the deal, by a fair margin in my opinion. That makes him the quality. I'm NOT saying, nor have I said at any point, Chucky or Sergachev are ****, they are actually pretty damn good.

But quality>quantity is a relative statement. Meaning it changes based on scenario, and in this case Tavares is the best player of the deal (unarguably) and the habs are giving up more pieces in the trade. Which makes Quality (tavares)>Quantity(habs pieces)

on these boards the word quantity has always had a negative connotation. period
:help:

Maybe you don't understand the concept of context?

Tavares walks right back to NYI at his contract's end? Then done deal, otherwise Isles pass and remain a legitimate playoff team.

No reason in hell for the Isles to trade Tavares before his UFA season, and even then only if JT isn't planning on staying.
If they do have to trade him, Tavares will return a hell of a lot better than what's offered here.
Montreal won't even be a consideration.

So Basically, Shea Weber for ...

Brock Nelson
Michael Dal Colle
2016 & 2017 1st?

I hate when people do this: the OP (while bad) is nowhere even in the same universe as your trade here.

You just look like a homer for even suggesting that this is comparable. Embarrassing for you.

Tell me more about how extraordinary your players are compared to our players, and how we should all feel deep, deep, deep shame for any suggestion otherwise.

I'm a Sens fan and not in the least bit way a Habs fan.

Yes I'm so embarrassed.

OP offer was not much better then mine. Factor in JT being the face of LI and Weber the new guy this is very comparable .

Sergachev is a spec and a good one at that. The point is neither trade is feasible and both would be hated by most of the respective fan bases

Why are these bs threads even existing? Tavares is not moving from Long Island. It just ain't happening
Because minor moves are really boring to think and talk about.

Why do people feel this need to whine about "big move" proposals every single time? Can't read the title before you click?

The Islanders are not trading Tavares. He is the Carey Price of their team.

Nothing else in this thread matters.

These are just as boring since there is no way in flying hell they are happening.

If I'm the Islanders, I pass.

Really? Why? JT is great player but will likely get close to 10 million per when his new deal is up. Which in cap terms limits how effective you team can be as a whole. He is also 3 maybe 4yrs older than Galchenyuk. When Galchenyuk gets a new deal it will likely be Monahan's type of money maybe less.

You also get a projected first pairing defenceman who is cost controlled and likely with you for another 7-8 yrs at a decent price.

Lastly two extra first rounders!!

Look I get why you want JT but an offer of 4 first rounders would be enough to sway me especially when Galchenyuk could be a great replacement for JT and Sergachev projects to play your first pairing.

Franchise centers don't come around often. Islanders are not trading JT.

You never know, if he doesnt wanna resign they might do it. He probably will resign but if Islanders doesnt get any better he might go somewhere else.
