Teams don't trade franchise top 6 Centers in the league. Last time anything resembling this happened was Boston trading Thornton. Maybe the Russians or Belorussian American would help draw in Brighton Beach, but I doubt that overcomes trading your franchise center.

While tavares is alot superior overall superior at this point hes older and, chucky has still a couple of flaws like faceoff but his turning into a realt good player and the difference between chucky and 1 year of tavares isnt serg and 1 x first, habs pass.

Quality>Quantity

[mod] 30goal scorer at 21 year old. he might never be good all around like tavares, but i woulnt be suprise if he ends up out produce him. Galchenyuk has still alot of room to grow and is still dominant, first full season at center, needs to work on his consistency and two-way game, other than that his a top tier player.

teams frequently trade first line centers... but only when that center falls out of favor (usually due to contract)

i mean boston dealt seguin not too long ago... columbus just moved johanson... colorado moved oreilly and vancouver did kesler.

these are all 20 min per night guys expected to score 60+ points. they all qualify as a first line center imho

tavares is on a great hometown discount contract. hes not a trouble maker. it would be idiotic for ny to move him when they are trying to take the next step

Your right it's way more than Serg and 2 firsts. You have almost 2 full years of JT. You have a full year to resign a top 5 center in the NHL. A guy who is still only 26 years old.

Isles won't trade Tavares unless they know they cannot resign him.

You're right. MTL would be insane.

The isles would be not so good.

Counter offer

Paxiorety for Strome, Bailey, and 1st

I guess everybody is happy with their assets.

you're delusional if you think Galchenyuk isnt a valuable pieces. 30goal scorer at 21 year old. he might never be good all around like tavares, but i woulnt be suprise if he ends up out produce him. quality is a relative term, if it's Tavares for Chucky, Serg + 2 1st's then Habs side is the quantity.

If it's Chucky for Kadri + Kapanen + 2nd then the Habs side is the quality

quality/quantity just refers to a trade where 1 team is getting the clearly superior player and the other team is getting multiple pieces of lower value. This qualifies.

I would say no here if I were the Habs. Tavares is amazing but that's a core piece for the Habs, a piece they hope is a core piece, and 2 picks that could become core pieces. I think having those multiple pieces would be more important than just Tavares as amazing as Tavares is.

Isles would say no too, Tavares is their franchise player

I don't think it's as far off as people as stating...not a trade that'll ever happen. But the point difference between gally and Tavares is minimal compared to 3 firsts on top of it..

As a habs fan, I wouldnt give up 2 first rounders, Galchenyuk and Sergechev. Thats pretty much the future of the habs.

So Basically, Shea Weber for ...

Brock Nelson
Michael Dal Colle
2016 & 2017 1st?

how does that make half sense?

wheres your comparable potential to weber in this deal?

i know Montreal fans tend to overrate their players, but Galchenyuk's actual play right now and his ceilling is hella underrated right now on these boards.

like i said

Galchenyuk OVERALL game will probably never reach Tavares's games but he could end up being a be more productive than Tavares. Tavares only has 2 years left on his contract, will be UFA. Chucky is RFA at 22 year old and will sign for a good 6years for around 6-6.5 based on current market, while tavares will probably get 8million+ if not more since the market could go up in 2 years. add sergachev a top 10 Dman with high offensive upside and 2 unknown 1st who could end up anything. take your homer glasses of this is a very bad management trade for Montreal.

easy pass for both. johnny t is worth more to the isle and that is a ridiculous amount for montreal to pay. galchenyuk will never be as good, but the difference isn't serge and god knows what else.

i'd love johnny on the habs, but i don't think a realistic deal can be worked out.
