Sign him cheap and let him score at a 60-point pace. Then trade him at the deadline for a better playoff fit.

Tatar will sign a multi-year deal somewhere. He won't sign a dirt cheap prove it contract for one year at the age of 30. We've seen this story before.

The only fit for Tatar is a rebuilding team that needs a vet to insulate their young guys.

Or the leafs.

This isn't NHL 21. Teams have scouting reports on every player of interest. They have guys going to games and watching players live. There's no "looking at stats"
I guess the Leafs scout get to go golfing in April too.

They have Robertson, Bunting and Kerfoot who can slide up. We do need another top 9 LW or 3C. I don't think it's nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. Kampf will likely be more effective than Thornton. If you're assuming Bunting does not make the roster and puts up 0 goals sure.

We lost a supplementary player and have 4 elite legitimate scoring threats. Let's not pretend we're back in the Kessel-Bozak days.

atleast they have cups

posts like these read too much like video games, and until this team realizes that 'bottom' six is equally important as your 'top six' they have nothing

they keep letting players go that actually mean something when they go somewhere else and are used properly
Tyler Bozak (tavares screwed so much depth up)
Matt Martin
Leo Komarov
Connor Brown
now
Zach Hyman

for anyone not to see how badly Tavares has screwed this franchise's trajectory especially now, well i don't know what to say..

Tyler Bozak (tavares screwed so much depth up) - good player.. not anywhere near Tavares calibre
Matt Martin - overpaid
Leo Komarov - he sucks
Connor Brown - Marner, Nylander, Kapanen, Brown down the wing.. Brown was used to move Zaitsev terribe contract
now
Zach Hyman - he makes 1/5 the value of Tavares great cap savings.

Not really, it's people who are lesbian dance theory major's (seen above) that fail to understand that a majority of cap dollars go to paying the best players while every single off season there are players available like the ones above.

The depth last year was old veterans and the injury 10 mins into the playoff to Tavares/Foligno in-out exposed that in the line-up. The core of this roster is elite and it's no question about it. We signed Brodie last year and fixed the D finally, this year we will fix the O and win that first round.

Friedman was on Edmonton radio today and said a team told him Tatar isn't interested in a 1-year, $2M type of deal right now. Friedman thinks he's trying to maximum term.

Don't say anything. You don't need to say anything.

Too old to build with, no value for contenders and pretenders.

Tatar value is in the 2x2 range...and he's probably seething right now. The guy gets points but getting sat in playoffs reduced his value to half of what he would get otherwise.

Half the league struggles to make the playoffs every year. They would be dumb to look down their nose at Tatar. How much money did Cody Ceci get? And he's not good in either the playoffs or regular season.

Hoffman and Toffoli have set the bar for 20-25 goal players who perform in the playoffs. So Tatar should easily come in in the 3-4 range. Teams like Ottawa, Arizona, Buffalo, San Jose, Anaheim, Detroit, Columbus, Vancouver, and probably a few more could all use a 50-60 point player who was an integral part of one of the best 2-way lines in the NHL while also being a great teammate and consummate professional.

If you sign him, make him a healthy scratch in the playoffs. It's a cheat code to get to the finals, but you need a cheat code to win it
