The kind of player that would quickly be a fan favourite on any team he went to. Hits, fights, and can skate and has skill. Just a down year for him.

I think this would be a huge pickup that won’t happen but if it did, it would take a first for sure and something else.

Jeannot is, IMO exactly what the leafs need - a top or middle 6 power forward with grit who can fight.
The only reason I think it takes a first is because there would be a bidding war and someone would eventually offer it. It's one reason many Preds fans have kind of become ok with the idea of moving him.

Brandon Hagel had 21 goals in 55 games and was locked in at 2 more years at a cheap salary when he was traded.
Jeannot had 5 goals and though he is an RFA he needs a new deal.

A 1st with a small + is reasonable. Multiple 1st + is not.
Fine, then we shouldn’t trade him for a late 1st and a middling prospect. He’s still young enough to fit our next timeline and with the year he’s having we should be able to lock him down long-term at a low number.

Leafs could use a replacement for Simmonds but no way a Simmonds replacement is worth a 1st + top prospect. Maybe a 2nd and a decent prospect.

Hard to evaluate this kid.

Last year he shot the stars out, this year not so much. Except for his overage season in Moose Jaw and last year, he's never really been a goal scorer.

he probably slots in better on the 3rd/4th line, if the asking price is based off last year, its a hard pass for me. Everything in his history tells us he probably had a career season last year and this year is more like what you should expect out of him.

Knies says hello
And Shanahan slaps the phone to into the Sun and Knies into a nap.

If Knies isn't getting moved for Patrick Kane he isn't getting moved - with all due respect - for Tanner "I've had one good season" Jeannot.

Why in god’s name would we trade him if we’re basing his value on this year? A 2nd + fodder for Jeannot gets us nowhere in our re-tool and we’re better off keeping him and signing him to a long-term bargain deal.

Leafs 2024 1st + Minten is probably the most they should pay. Jeannot is the exact player they need but there had to be a limit on what they pay considering his production.

Leafs mantra right here. After every season. After every Post-Season. Usually about four games in to the Post-Season.
About 4 games in? No it takes us the full length of a series to lose in new and heart breaking ways thank you very much.

We haven’t actually been swept in the playoffs since 1981.

Please point out the 4 game post season youre speaking about.

If you want to trash the Leafs, fine, but be honest. It's pretty pathetic to just make things up.

Would a second do the trick for Nashville? Plus b prospect? Many teams will come knocking imo
No. I wouldn't trade him for less than a 1st. But. A lot depends on his contract demands. There's a really wide range between 24 goals and near the top of the league in hits and fights and then 5 goals. The Preds have been talking to him about his next contract. If we could lock him up to a nice long-term deal at $2-$2.5M, then he's not on the market for a trade. If he wants to get paid like he's Tom Wilson, then that's another story.

Don't think its a great fit for the Leafs frankly without a contract extension worked out at a reasonable number before hand. Leafs need to preserve cap space for a big offseason of decisions - his arbitration rights would complicate things.

Potential good problem to have, but not worth the acquisition cost on top of the uncertainty financially it would create for them.

Edit: And I have no idea why he'd sign right away before getting the chance to play out the year and playoffs with high-end players, so that doesn't seem likely at all.
