Ya, you left out that Dorsett was also part of a fourth line that at many times was one of our best lines during the Stanley Cup playoffs, and arguably a big reason we made it to the Finals.

It was definitely one of our top 4 lines...

My question--why has ANYBODY, EVER actually WATCHED him play??? It's not like he was an Islander or Devil... if he truly sucked so badly, why then would anyone pay attention to him to formulate these opinions?

I've watched him play... pretty close up.

I don't think he's a far cry from the kind of players Rupp and Asham were for this team. And I mean that in a neutral way. But he's also a tremendous locker room presence.

I'm calling 15 goals for Glass. We always sign players who performed elsewhere only to be crap in NYC. This will be the exact opposite

What are you basing this prediction on? Glass has never gotten close.

Nothing more than hoping against hope that it happens, so you can say 'I told you so'?

Tanner Glass scored 15 goals in the BCHL once.

He scores a goal for every 20.9 NHL games. So in about 315 games, you should expect 15 goals from him. At the AHL level, only about 135 games!

A good season for Glass would involve becoming a decent 3rd wheel on a good cycling 4th line. Not unlike Carcillo was for a lot of last year. Orr was acceptable for a while playing with Betts and Hollweg/Ortmeyer.

The price and length of the contract is odd, for me, but what can you do at this point.

the post was a joke, but I do not recall Carcillo playing in the Finals, if that's what you meant.

Carcillo didn't play, but starting with game four the option did exist for the Rangers to dress Carcillo to beat up Gaborik...again.

No question. This is what it comes down to.

Tanner Glass has never been played as "Goon" by any of his coaches. Hes played a 4th line and PKer role, blocks shots. But because of his fancy stats everyone has him labeled as John Scott.

His "fancy stats" show he's bad at what his coaches make him do.

Okay this seems to be a good contract in this age when 4th liners gets paid over 2m. So can he be a 4th liner?

Sometimes you have to overpay a guy if there's competition for his services. I don't think that this was the case with Glass. I doubt he had something comparable on the table so we competed against ourselves most likely. I'd have preferred 2 yrs / 1.25 and even that is stretching it. Hope he plays well and proves me wrong.

Well, Glass couldn't be a fourth liner for Pittsburgh in the playoffs against us - healthy scratch in five of the seven games. This on a Penguins team that had no depth at all.

But played 67 regular season games, and didn't play all 82 because he missed 15 games with a broken hand.

Playoffs are a different season, and he was struggling at that time so Bylsma was trying anything to see if it would work.

Glass is a solid 4th line addition for this team.

Struggling "at that time?" Can you give me a single season of Tanner Glass' career where he did not "struggle"?

Glass hasn't been good other places. Some people think that means there's no way he can be good here.

Some people think AV sees something in him and/or he can improve as a player.

That's it. Round and round and round in circles. There's really nothing else to say.
