I didn't really ask for an opinion on Kyrou or contracts in general, I just want to know if he was a + player would you change your tone in how you talk about him? Like let's say for his contract he's +10 or better each season. Do you still think he's an anchor or no?

If he was +25 while playing top line minutes going against teams other top pairings then that obviously means hes either improved defensively or is seriously getting carried by his other linemates.

Kyrou's regression is a legitimate issue. I think he can and will be better, but this season I think turnovers have been a huge problem and he hasn't made a positive impact overall.

I'm not seeing regression. Poor defensive play, yes. But, he's surpassed his goal totals by 10 goals and while his assists are down the quality of his teammates are also down due to injuries and trades. His point% have dropped by .05 which really isn't some crazy downward Spiral.

He needs to be better, yes, but it's closer to stagnation than regression.

A lot of offensive players have that same issues with turnovers. It's a learning curve. Especially for a player going from around 16 1/2 sheltered minutes to 18+ top line minutes against every teams top players. For some guys that transition doesn't/can't happen overnight.

Imagine thinking +/- is what determines someones worth as a defensive player when ROR one of the best Defensive forwards in modern hockey was almost a -30 this year as well. It's almost like the entire team was at fault and not just one person.
