is Toro what we hoped Kostin was supposed to be?
I think Toro has slightly exceeded expectations offensively and Kostin has underwhelmed mightily. I think the hope was that Kostin could be a 30-40 point guy. He's been decently effective on a super top heavy, talented Oilers team, but I'd take Toro 100 times out of 100 even if he's scoring 10 points less.

the best part of the kyrou shenanigan's is that there is a thread when he signed and it is all documented forever.

we had numerous people here who were thrilled about the signing, some comparing him to patrick kane (lol, where are his hart, conn smyths and cups again?), others saying they were fine with his defensive play as long as he put up 90+ pts a season. then there were the realists who expressed concern about his horrendous defensive play and how he was a one trick pony.

He is a train wreck defensively and not even PPG player. That deal will go down as one of the worst long term deals in Blues history.

We're also lucky enough to have your delusional takes documented for ever until you decide to edit them to try and cover up your ridiculous bullshit.

one of the few to be correct about him but really nothing out of the ordinary for me.

hopefully army can move him this summer in a deal with a massive return.

People who honestly believe we are going to ship off a 30+ goal scorer after a down year (where everyone on the team was also having a down year) are most likely going to be very disappointed

who said believe? i hope it happens, doesnt mean i believe it will.

sadly, he likely will be a anchor for many years on some really bad blues hockey teams. will be even worse if the team is so lacking of leadership that he ever wears an A or C.

Damn, How many anchors can say they are a multiple 30+ goal scorer. If the Blues can build a team around Tarasenko taking up 10%+ of the cap they can build a team with Kyrou taking up less than 10% of the Cap. Build up the middle six with players that are defensively responsible and fix the defense. That's a big reason Snuggy is going to be such a great addition to the RW side.

Hypothetically if Kyrou were like a +25 or better, would you reconsider your opinion on him being an anchor?

he will be our welfare version of kovalchuk, heatley, etc

the "best" player on really bad teams. and by best i simply mean the most points. robert thomas is a much better player than he is overall.

Actually, for now it's a trick question.
There hasn't been one. The closest would be Joe Sakic in 89-90. 39 goals, 63 assists, -40.

Sounds like that Sakic guy was an anchor that the GM should have traded if he had the chance. Prolly only lasted 2-3 years in the league and then never played again, right? RIGHT?

if kyrou was slightly below avg defensively i wouldnt trash him so much. i am not expecting a selke forward from him.

but hes the worst defensive forward in the entire league and hes not even a PPG player in a era where scoring numbers are up, especially the past few seasons since covid. stupid contracts like the one hes about to get are the reason we lost perron, maroon, creampuff and others. you can get away with shitty contracts in baseball but not in a sport where they eat your cap and prevent you from keeping other key cogs.

this team has zero heart and soul anymore because of the need to give people like Binnington, Kyrou, Krug, Schenn ridiculous contracts that you knew at the time of signing them were not going to age well. And they've performed even worse than anticipated at even earlier years of the contracts than anticipated.

I'm hoping this is just a weird year for Kyrou. I feel like he's been significantly more indecisive and turnover prone this year. If he could become not totally allergic to contact that would be helpful as well.

He was a 2nd year player at the time, to boot(-76 over his first two seasons BTW).
Never should have seen 200 games.

Lord knows it would have made the Blues lives easier.

I didn't really ask for an opinion on Kyrou or contracts in general, I just want to know if he was a + player would you change your tone in how you talk about him? Like let's say for his contract he's +10 or better each season. Do you still think he's an anchor or no?

its going to get worse. remember at the start of the season how awful he was? It was right after he signed that contract which hasnt even kicked in yet. He was a total ghost on the ice with something like 0g 1a and a -10 through like 7 games.

Now just wait until that contract kicks in next season and he plays similar or even worse hockey and the general media and fans start dogging on him. That guy is built of cardboard paper, hes soft. hes gonna fold like a cheap suit.

i want him gone more than anyone since chris stewart. he will be my whipping boy for the next 8 seasons until he proves to want to be a winner and plays a 2 way game.
