Kind of crazy how we lose Tatar and the team falls completely into tank mode and the offense is non-existent. Even Gallagher is struggling just to get shots on net.

Overall it's a good thing, but boy, does it show the complete lack of depth on the team.

Hall (or Lafreniere) would be a godsend. But I'd still like to see Kovalchuk and Hoffman added, since we're not going to do a full rebuild. But whatever I want heading into the offseason, MB rarely does.

I remember when Buffalo tanked hard during the McDavid draft. They traded their best goalie and lost so much they were by far the worst team. The GM even talked about picturomg McDavid in a Sabres jersey. They lost the lottery, but got Eichel, and then Dahlin. I'd gladly take a player like those two.

Tatar injury was a huge blessing in disguise.
Not just Buffalo the Oilers and Coyotes tanked as well....Oilers traded Perron,Petry,Derek Roy....Coyotes traded Vermette and Yandle.....Oilers finished 3rd worst but won the lottery it comes down to who gets lucky on draft lottery day.

Pass on Kovalchuk unless it's an extremely team friendly, 1 year deal. He'll need to be on a load management schedule.

It will be hard to catch all 3 of Ottawa, San Jose, and L.A. in tank wars. But if we really tank hard, we should catch at least one of them. That would give us 4th best lottery odds at Lafreniere. Not bad.

Man did Dorion ever do well with the Karlsson trade: a likely 2nd or 3rd lottery slot, two 2nds, Josh Norris, Dylan Demelo, and Chris Tierney... Ottawa could have 1st and 2nd pick in an amazing draft, and almost surely 2 of the top 6. All for Erik injury prone, past his prime, soon to be albatross contract Karlsson.
Tell me about it.

Can you imagine they end up going 1 and 2??

Do you get Laffer + Byfield LW + big Center or Laffer + Stutzy LW + RW.

Either way they could end up with 2 pics in top 5. There's an instant turn around.

In 3 years time, Sens will be way ahead of the Habs in rebuild and overall talent!

Sad but you are right, they killed it with the Karlsson trade. Karma I guess for the Duchesne trade!

If Tatar and Drouin come back, we're basically icing the team that had a good start to the year - and playing a bunch of non-playoff teams except for Colorado and Toronto.

I can't see Tatar coming back. The whole "ruled out surgery" comments probably just means he's got a lot of physical therapy to go through.

Drouin is a game time decision for tomorrow, so he'll be back. He said he wants to get some games in since he hasn't played a lot this year, which is true.

Seriously, even if we get the 1st or trade for it? Spare Laffreniere from the absolute shit storm his career would be under our management. It would make Drouin’s tenure look like a success.

We’re 4 points out of the bottom five with the teams behind us having multiple games in hand. We have to lose to Buffalo. It’s a huge chance for us.
