Just a different view point on the post, not disagreeing.

"Ship out" kinda has a negative context whereas these ideas are a positive value asset for more future value in return.

TRADE Schenn for future improvement
TRADE Garland/Boeser for more ASSETS

The Canucks won and I got worried then the other won too, so 8 points out of DFL now.

AND yes to all suggested above.

Lets add in there Miller too before his NMC kicks in.

A little concerned with the Barzal injury, this could impact the Canucks in a big way like no pick from this deep draft.

Hopefully Lamer see's that injury has a possible use, make a deal for either Kane or Meiers or both, they have the cap space now. I would prefer he went after Miller though, maybe for the chemistry already in place.

Just looking at the lottery odds we have a 9.5% chance of Bedard if we finish fifth. The odds don’t change much unless you finish dead last where the odds go to about 25%.
That’s unlikely.
So really it’s about trying to get as low as possible to grab a player other than Bedard and hoping we beat the odds in the draft lottery at around 10%.
Would be amazing if we could move up to third and get a top three player but realistically finishing fifth should land us a top player too.

We are the Canucks.

The reason we need to be as low in the standings as possible is that we can only drop so far when other teams win the lottery and jump ahead of us.

I love that fifth is a realistic possibility at this point.

I'd easily take it, I think 5th is the best case scenario for us and it's a lot more likely that we end up around 8-9 than 4th.

5th is also inside the elite c/d range for this draft, it's a great place to pick.
 
The Nucks need either Bedard or at least the top 4 in the draft.

It is possible, but it would likely cost a chunk of assets.
Probably something like our first, the Islanders first, and a high, high quality player-like Hughes or E.P

There could be a situation where two teams win the lottery and CBJ still drafts #1 and Ana drafts #2 (or whoever the bottom 2 teams are at the time) as you can only move up 10 spots. It's extremely unlikely but that would be interesting. It means that the bottom two teams have a much better chance in drafting top 2.
 
Now 28th in the league, 7 points out of DFL, 3 teams below them all have 41 points, if SJ wins 28th.

INSANE

All the team needs now is another dman goes down, Petey or Hughes gets sick for a couple of weeks. Not Petey though the meds for colds he takes seem to rev him up.

I sure hope if they are playing Demko it is because there is a really good offer on the table for him and not just to see how he is. Groins are career enders for goalies if not given enough time to heal.

Can you imagine if Arizona wins the lottery and we get 2nd pick. What will you do if you're Bedard?

Play in a college rink with Keller in obscurity. Or form a Yzerman/Fedorov duo down the middle with EP in his hometown while the captaincy is up for grabs?
