With the new Tank Commander Tocchet commanding our tanks, it should go much smoother. I'm glad we took out Anti-tank Bo Horvat though from the equation, Bo Horvat just scoring on those meaningless games right at the end of our season. Still remember that 2016 season when he decided to show up during our last California trip, a miserable year and all we got was Olli Juolevi.

Its insane that this is the floor for a team that tried to make the playoffs this year.

Im going to stop repeating my 7th - 11th mantra now.

Appatently this team can out tank teams that are actually tanking on purpose.

And you wouldn’t have it any other way

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Canucks have either stayed in place or dropped in every lottery. I know this is mathematically untrue, but they have to win some time. I know that past results have no bearing on future probabilities, but that time could be this year.
You are correct. They have never moved up, starting with the sabres in 70. I did the math one time, I believe the odds were something like 1 chance in 15 that they hadn't ever moved up. It doesn't move very fast now, because they seldom have better than a 30% chance, and for example when they were 15th last year, it was like 3 %.

6 weeks ago facing the January guantlet, a road heavy February, and a post Horvat March, I was predicting 62 points....

They might not even get there.

today's games that matter;
Montreal @ Hurricanes ............ Habs have 4 more points and tonight's game, evens our games played
Jets @ Blue Jackets .............. Columbus 10 points back and tonight's game, evens our games played
Devils @ Blues? ............... Blues are 7 points up, and after tonight they will have a game in hand
Sharks @ Vegas .............. Sharks 1 point back, and after tonight the Canucks will have a game in hand

The tanking is going really good! I don’t really want Demko going back in net because we’re making up ground on the bottom teams! We’re tied with the Yotes right now, Sharks are 1 point behind us, the Ducks are 6 points back, we just need to lose 3 games and for the Ducks to win 3 games and we’re tied up. Recall Martin and make him our starter for the rest of the season, we’re so close to being able to make a real positive change for the clubs future by securing a top pick in this draft, we can’t afford to go on a run of wins or start collecting loser points. The tank must prevail!

This is pretty obscure but the Canucks did "win" in the 2005 post-lockout draft (the Crosby draft) where the entire draft order was assigned through a lottery with weighted odds based on how teams did the previous few seasons. Based on the weightings, the Canucks were ranked 24th but they got the 10th pick.

Patrik Allvins fantasy Pettersson/Carlsson down the middle for a decade.

top 3 would be franchise changing, get another high end center to go along with EP and all of a sudden the future is pretty exciting again.

Even Michkov would be franchise changing if he ends up being a Kaprizov level talent even if it takes 3-4 years for him to get here.

Will Smith is a game breaking talent who would be a great consolation prize as well. Elite skills and hockey sense who definitely has franchise centre potential. I believe he's a superior prospect to Cooley taken 3rd last year.

My first reaction wasn't hockey prospect Will Smith, but Chris Rock kiss your face good bye Will Smith

If you thought the Canucks have been bad since Christmas, you'd be right. Canucks Army has broken down the records of the NHL bottom-feeders since Xmas....and with a winning percentage pf .295, the Canucks are in a league of their own.

The rhetorical question is, can they keep it up? I don't see any reason, why not. They're legitimately one of the worst teams in hockey. It'd doubtful that they can possibly be bad enough to get reeled in by Columbus or Anaheim.

But I'd be more than happy with the third best odds in the Bedard sweepstakes.

We play the Ducks 3 more times, the Yotes 2 more times and the Sharks 1 more times. Those are all huge 4 points games (meaningful games in March!). The results of those games will probably determine the standing for the 27th to 30th places. I guess there is a chance Montreal falls back a bit and join that grouping, but you would think that StL, Philly and Ott are probably gone.

The Nucks do play Chi 2 more times but at 37 points currently and trading Kane/Toews soon, I don't think we can catch them.

So I guess the best we can realistically do is finished 30th overall, and worst is probably 26th. If that is the case, the worst case scenario is finishing 26th and drafting 9th (5.6%), but the best case scenario is finishing 30th and drafting 1st (11.5%).

The current trend suggest that we are more likely to be finishing 30th than 26th though. This tank's efficiency far exceeded my expectation.
