The worst teams in the universe, the Hawks, Sharks and Preds, are terrible dreck and can we enjoy it? No. Why? Because we can't get down there with them when we need to, although winning the lottery and taking Schaefer from them would be be beautiful. (And if we get the #1 pick there's none of this Hagens nonsense, it's Schaefer)
Not being snarky at all, as I think he is the consensus #1, but man, I would have to think long and hard about Misa. Maybe I’m still tormented by the EJ over Toews pick. 🤣🤣

I completely understand the EJ trauma. One of my main all time arguments is let's not repeat the trauma of gaining and losing Stevens, gaining and losing Pronger, gaining and losing someone else, so repeating of known trauma I'm wary of ... but you know what gets me in the end? Schaefer's super late birthday ... two weeks from being a 2026 draftee ...

Absolutely would take Schaefer over the rest.

If you look at the standings now it seems like we would have a real shot at finishing in the bottom five. We have some really tough runs left in our schedule. Ultimately, I think what keeps us out of the bottom five is the fact that, despite some of the rough patches, we still have five games left against Chicago and Nashville.

I think Buffalo and Montreal can wind up with a better record than the Blues. I’m not sure about anyone else. I will be surprised if they get better than the 7th overall pick.

I think there's a very realistic shot at #4(Buffalo, Seattle and Anaheim would need to pass us), especially if we actually sell at the deadline(don't know that selling would affect those 3 teams as much given the young talent in their lineups that won't be available).
But we're not catching SJ, Chicago and Nashville.

Somehow with Leddy back, you know this team is going to go on an improbable 7 game winning streak here soon and screw this whole thing up.

Im expecting the 7-12 range myself, our roster is still better than the bottom 5 teams.

Overall a solid night besides us getting a loser point. We were close to winning that game altogether, so I'll take the OT loss there.

UTA/PHI went to OT. SEA got a point. ANA won. MTL won. BUF won. PIT got a point. So everyone either gained on us or stayed even.

Our next big game is after the Four Nations tournament, the 25th against SEA. SEA is currently the least likely team to pass us, of the teams that realistically still can.
