It's good conversation, I liken it to LA trading Johnson.

Tanev plus a 1st rounder for Duchene...should get it done.

Hahaha no....no it wouldn't. Duchene is younger and better. Avs don't need Tanev. They need more top 6 forwards. Their top 4 is:

Zadorov - EJ
Wiercioch - Barrie

All 4 have been pretty superb under the new coach. You can have Soderberg for Tanev.

Interesting comparison, though because JJ is bad at defense.

TANEV IS A GREAT 1.5 to 2 tweener......not quite a #1 but plays with a number 1 and makes him better, he is elite in what he does.

#1 Trade

My belief is he is worth Toronto 2017 1st + top prospect + 2018 2nd

Can we afford to take just Picks? No not really, but Toronto pays up gladly

#2 Trade

Reinhart +2018 2nd for Tanev + Virtanen

#3 Trade

Tanev for McKinnon

In each case I ask you does obtaining Tanev make the teams Better?

And to be fair and not kill the trades immediately, is there an add that makes it even?

Oh my, Reinhart, McKinnon lol

Listen i like Tanev from a leafs perspective and if picks and prospects are what the Nucks are looking for well the leafs would be a good trading partner but your not getting anything close to Mckinnon or Reinhart for Tanev. McKinnon would cost you your 1st round pick Tanev and your top Prospect

That actually seems like fair value. D is obviously more valuable these days, and Duchene isn't exactly on superstar level. But, our forward talent is very weak.

And Wiercioch shouldn't be keeping us from upgrading the top4. Way to early to be penciling him in there.

They're basing Tanev's value off of the Hall - Larsson trade. Larsson is 3 years younger, but Tanev is a much better player. Larsson returned Hall in a trade, so Tanev should garner ______.

Yeah because the Avs have a glut of skilled top 6 forwards and a lack of RHD. Oh wait they don't since we aren't in 2014 anymore.

Except Edmonton had to do something and everyone knows that Chia put himself in a corner.

28 other GM's know Chia got bent over. Just because Chia did that trade doesn't mean another GM would. Avs especially aren't in a position where their defense is a massive tire fire. So no.. Tanev would not return what you think he would.

Oh ok if you say so. lol

You mean exactly like you said it would get it done? As Ivan said, the Avs badly are lacking up front and have both Barrie and EJ on the right side, so Tanev, as good as he is, is not a desperate need.

Just reading through this thread. Multiple people keep acting like Tanev is in his 30's

He is 26 years old AKA going into his prime years.

Avs don't have a lot of top six forwards. They need to hang on to the ones they have (Duchene, MacKinnon and Landeskog) and the one prospect that looks to be one (Jost and Rantanen). We all saw what happened last season down the stretch when MacKinnon was injured. The lack of skill and depth killed them.

Yah totally agree, you guys have the same problem we do.

Lol...Avs and Nucks don't have the same problem. Avs are trending up and their problem was poor coaching. They have their core locked up and still in their mid 20s. Nucks are trending down and have an aging/declining core that needs to be sold off for pieces to aide that rebuild.
