TANEV IS A GREAT 1.5 to 2 tweener......not quite a #1 but plays with a number 1 and makes him better, he is elite in what he does.

#1 Trade

My belief is he is worth Toronto 2017 1st + top prospect + 2018 2nd

Can we afford to take just Picks? No not really, but Toronto pays up gladly

#2 Trade

Reinhart +2018 2nd for Tanev + Virtanen

#3 Trade

Tanev for McKinnon

In each case I ask you does obtaining Tanev make the teams Better?

And to be fair and not kill the trades immediately, is there an add that makes it even?

So what exactly are the leafs giving up?

Buffalo likely declines and Colorado laughs and blocks the Canucks number

Toronto has to offer the prospect .....

Buffalo I think listens, maybe Vancouver adds

You might be right about Colorado

Toronto pays up gladly? No, no we don't. That 1st round pick alone may be worth more than Tanev by next June.

Hey OP... first, Vancouver doesn't want to, couldn't, nor should trade Tanev.

And second: MacKinnon??? Give your head a shake and run these through the Vancouver board before bringing them out there. That's just ludicrous.

Leafs aren't trading future 1sts for a non-franchise player. There is no deal between Toronto and Vancouver for Tanev that realistically works. Here is the list of non-starters for the Leafs, unless we are getting a potential franchise #1 D in return. Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Rielly and our 2017 first (until we knowing roughly where we are picking, and then it still might have top 3 protection).

Not if Tanev plays the whole season with you

I don't think you understand how potentially bad the Leafs will likely be again. Tanev makes us better but he wouldn't suddenly vault us up in the standings. He's good but he's not that good.

He is not worth a 1st + 2nd + Top Prospect. Not even remotely close.

As an Avs fan, I think more has to be going to Vancouver from Colorado. Tanev is really good, I doubt Mackinnon is enough.

You think Toronto's going to give up essentially the same package they gave up for a 21 year old Kessel for a d-man who turns 27 in a couple months? Because we saw how well that went for the Leafs.

Unless by "top prospect" you mean a guy like Dermott. Because the big three aren't really prospects any more and are untouchable.

Tanev could help us but to say he's worth a 1st +2nd + top prospect is insane

So you think he's worth a 1st + 2nd + Kapanen or 1st + 2nd + Lipsec

No, no he's not he's a good player but not a star that's the price you pay for a star

Nucks are not getting close to any of these deals for Tanev.

As a Leafs fan, I'd consider either JvR or Kadri straight up for Tanev, but certainly not 2017 1st + top prospect + 2018 2nd.

define top prospect, because I literally wouldn't want to trade that first round pick, let alone a 2nd and a top prospect.

The other 2 are laughable.

Buffalo hangs up the phone snd puts them on block.

Reinhardt alone is worth more than Tanev. Tanev is not a #1.

Hell no.

COUNTER-OFFER #1
TOR 1ST (top 5 protected)
Brooks Laich (AHL cap dump UFA in summer)
Frank Corrado (throw in so we don't have 9 D)

for

Chris Tanev

COUNTER-OFFER #2
Same as above, but swap the 1st rounder for any Leafs prospect not named Matthews or Nylander or Marner, and also add in a 3rd rounder going to Vancouver.

If Caggiula was healthy (and we confirmed he's a legit 3C in the NHL), and VAN weren't in the same division:

Nuge

for

Tanev

Nuge is a Vancouver kid and a massive upgrade at the #2 centre spot for VAN, eventual #1C. Centre and Dmen carry roughly equivalent value. I watch VAN a lot, I know how good of a defensive Dman Tanev is.

Klefbom-Larsson
Sekera-Tanev
Nurse-Russell

Davidson potentially in for Nurse when healthy. That's a lethal top 4, we would still have McDavid-Drai-Caggiula down the middle. However, with Caggiula injured (need to confirm he's a legit 3C) and VAN in division, doubt any trade gets made.

Nuge for Tanev is probably the fairest objective value I think.
