You watched the series and came to the conclusion that "Tampa is not a good team" If your previous posts weren't telling enough of your hockey understanding, this one here paints a perfect picture
The only reason you think they played good is cause they beat the leafs, but reality is leafs beat themselves.

Watch hockey this isn’t the same tampa team…. Very beatable. You want to know how bad I thought tampa was? I predicted Toronto to win in 6

I fully agree. Last years tampa doesn't take 7 or even 6 to win this series imo.

This guy ended the Leafs season

Thats also exactly the kinda guy the Leafs should have gone after to load up their bottom 6 since their top guys have proven to shit the bed in elimination games.

Tampa knows how to build a team. Wonder kid Dubas looks at stat shit sheets and thinks he's smarter than everyone else.

Toronto is the biggest city in Canada. Usually people elsewhere in any country don't wish the sports teams of the biggest city any success at all. Quite on the contrary.

Is Canada an exception to that rule?

Hockey is the one sport where intangibles matter more than actual statistics. It’s hard to determine and hard to explain but it’s the ultimate team sport and often the difference maker are guys you would never imagine. Identifying and signing those type of players is what separates successful vs unsuccessful teams

The Leafs humiliated themselves again.

Made a fat penny fading the choking slobs this time, can't complain at all.

Oh cmon. Tampa is obviously a great team. The Leafs played very well and IMO they made Tampa look human because of how well constructed they are. Saying the Leafs “beat themselves” and such is ridiculous given they carried the play almost the entire series.

Don’t get me wrong, this outcome fills me with joy. Just doesn’t make sense making stuff up though. Leafs are quite clearly a great team even if the drama of their failure is entertaining.

This isn’t a good tampa team… they with get slapped around my flames oilers Florida Carolina and prob Pitt…. Leafs just got paid before accomplishing anything and don’t actually care about winning in the playoffs. Only reason leaf fans are acting like tampa is good this year is to cope with another disappointing showing by the team

They hate their GM, they hate the sport of hockey and most of all they hate their fans.
Dude are you kidding me?
Tampa takes Calgary, Oilers, And especially Pittsburgh behind the shed and does unspeakable things to them. Not close. Not a fair matchup.

Some of y’all are just making shit up to shit on Toronto at this point.

Think it’s because they’re fresh off going toe to toe with the back to back cup champs and a 115 point season?

What would you suggest they do oh enlightened one?

Obviously disappointed the leafs lost, as they do. But what can you do? Dubas has literally revamped the entire team to an extremely good product. He brought depth in, changed the D core, made good signings and trades. Sure they ultimately didn’t win. But there’s a good chance that if Dubas gets canned, the leafs next GM gets to reap the benefits of the work Dubas has put in. He’s given this team every opportunity to win. I’m not sure what the answer is, but I don’t think firing Dubas is it.

Congrats Tampa, great series.
I agree. Really enjoyed watching the Leafs this year. They have grown since last year. They played a great series. It could have gone their way. Their core is great. They gave Tamp fits.

Toronto needed Perry.
Simmonds was a penalty magnet for some unknown reasons, so he couldn't play.

Nylander, at the top of his game is nearly as good as Kucherov, but at the bottom of his game is barely a 4th line player.
Tonight he was bad for all but 1 shift.

We don't have a Vasi who can lock down a game.

The team is good, but there will be changes and I'd would be incensed if Kerfoot and Engvall and Nylander are still here next year.

Hedman is unbelievable.
And Point is a disgusting loss. Just a real shame he looks finished this year. The guy deserves better.

If Nylander had the same drive as Point, he would be a top 10 player in the game.
I thought Nylander was great in this series. Doesn’t deserve to be made a scapegoat.

If you watched this year and series and came to the conclusion that the GM is the issue, your hockey takes cannot be taken seriously
He’s done such a good job with several seasons of missed playoffs and the rest being first round exits lmfao

Well we won’t get to find out cause tampa bout to get slaughtered in round 2

Grats to TB. It was fun chatting with most of you during the series. I'm not all that upset this year because it just feels par for the course as a Leafs fan. I'm definitely not masochist enough to read through this thread, though.

Tampa didn't look overly impressive this series. They showed glimpses here and there of what they've been the last two years but overall looked beatable, and they were up against a team with a $1.65 million goalie and no killer instinct.
Tampa did look beatable. Vasilevsky made some key stops in gms 6 & 7 that made the difference. I disagree that the Leafs lacked a killer instinct. They had a great season and went 7 games against a Lightning team they could have beaten had one shot got past Vasi at the end.

I thought it was a great series and really enjoyed it. It's never fun to see your team eliminated, but no team beats Tampa in the playoffs these days. I'd rather have Toronto's season ended by this team than by Boston or Montreal.

I wouldn't make too many changes to the lineup. Do some tinkering and try again next year. I wouldn't rush to trade Nylander, but he should get a very good return if he is moved after the season he had and another productive playoffs.

Trading the pick is a good strategy in Toronto's case, since they are competing right now.

Tavares isn't a great contract, but there's no escape from this one.

Other than that, 115 pts isn't bad lol
Toronto is competing for what exactly?

Nylander was great in 2 games this series.
He was also invisible in 3 games including game 7.

The reason people jumped all over Marner last year was that it looked like he wasn't trying out there.

The reason this fanbase loves players like Hyman, Tucker, Domi, Roberts, Clark, and the like is not that they are/were world beaters, it's because they never cheated us on effort.

When he's going, when he is engaged and skating hard, Nylander is a phenomenal player. We don't expect good defense from him, we don't expect him to turn into Hatcher either, but we expect him to push the other team back on their heels with his speed and great movement on the puck.

Other than the shift he was held up on going into a breakaway (a blatant missed call to be honest), Nylander didn't look interested in the play for all of game 7.

Game 1, 2, and 7 he was terrible.
Games 5 and 6 he was great.

A core player that is either great or terrible and almost never anywhere in between is hard to swallow. If the ratio of bad to great is 1:1 then I can't rely on that guy to be a core player making 7 million.
