I would happily pay our top F prospect and two firsts from the Jets to get Tage.

Lambert/Yager/Chibrikov + 2025 First + 2026 First (top 5 protected)

I'd even throw in Stanley so you can keep a token tall guy in the lineup after trading Tage.
Okay you have said why you would do that. But now answer why the Sabres would? They aren't looking to sell for a rebuild. They are looking to improve. Why would we trade our 1 C for a couple picks and a prospect that we already have in spades in Rochester?

lol 7-8 pieces calm down
For a healthy Richel with 4 yrs of term from Vegas likely would have cost

Original deal
Tuch
Krebs
1st in 22
2nd in 23*
......Added on.....
5. another roster player on team or near ready AHLer on ELC
6. Another decent prospect not yet on ELC or just started it
7. A 2nd in 26*
* one of these becomes a 1st if vegas wins the cup between then and 2026 bit not a year they hold the draft
8. Another item depending on what 5 and 6 were

Prolonging the rebuild

It's rough having teams try to poach your good players for a collection of lesser pieces with no consideration for your team's situation and needs. I feel for you Buffalo fans.

Like I get why people would try this with Cozens. He's underperforming, his contract is pretty risky. Maybe you can buy low and convince the Sabres to cut their losses. Thompson though? They're not going to accept the trade unless it's crazy.

Habs fans, start your proposals with Suzuki and a top 3 protected first, then add another asset you consider untouchable, then maybe, just maybe, you'll get the attention of Sabres fans.
And people call Habs fans delusional? Suzuki>Thompson.

The sabres problem is they have let go of good players too early like Eichel, Reinhart, O'Reilly, etc. They need to just keep Thompson.

As much as I would love to see a 1-2 punch of Suzuki - Thompson with the Habs, there's no way Buffalo makes any trade involving Tage. It just doesn't make any sense and I can understand why they would ask 2x time his actual trade value and more.

Unless they rebuild and I doubt they will unless they are still out of the playoffs in 3years.

If Tage is moving, it's to make Buffalo better right now, not the other way around.
They should actually think about moving their prospect or young players that are trying to make it for good Vets instead. Rosen, Strbak, Helenius, Kulich could get some nice Vet addition to the very young Sabres line-up

Seems pretty reasonable take considering Suzuki will never come close to Thompsons 47-47 season ever.
I would easily bet on Suzuki surpassing that point total and breaching 40 goals before Tage ever comes close to that again. Also good job ignoring that it was also a top 3 protected 1st rounder and one of Montreal's top prospects/even younger than Suzuki players.

I'd happily send out Suzuki against Tage, but would be reluctant to do the opposite. 6-1?

Well I mean Cole Caufield + 1st unprotected is a price I'm willing to pay.
Okay. But only if we get to add Lane Hutson in the deal as well.

Caufiled is producing similar to Thompson, is three years younger - and they should trade him and a first? I wouldn’t do that trade straight up. Nor would I do Suzuki straight up.

The price for Tage should be very high. Probably too high for MTL liking.

CC + to start, is a decent beginning and yes Tage is worth more than Cole, all day, every day.

6’6” center who is PPG and has scored 40 goals is worth more than a small wing who has yet to do either. Unless the + was very good Buffalo would be stupid to do so.

Tage is almost as untouchable as Dahlin. Not because he’s a superstar or anything but because he’s an actual 1C and we have no center depth behind him. He’s also the only definitive top line player we have.

The ONLY was he’s moved would be in some wild scenario where, say, Draisaitl became available.
That’s shooting way too high. But I can firmly understand why that’d be the value that would pry him loose.

(Minus a trade request)

Tage is currently pacing at 49 goals.
Suzuki is pacing at 29 goals.

You can argue 2-way play and other skills, but Tage is the much better scorer atm and it's not close.

Probably ignoring the rest because you did when you straight up said suzuki is better than Tage?

You make no mention of the rest of the package here. Why did you lead the conversation in this direction and then chastise someone for responding directly to what you personally said?

Okay. But why does Montreal give up it's captain and solid two way center? It doesn't make sense.

It also doesn't make sense to deal Caufileld who's younger, entering his prime and produces around a 48/82 goal pace when healthy.

Neither option makes sense straight up for Montreal, let alone adding. I love Thompson, but Montreal has got a good young nucleus they're putting together for the future. I don't know why they'd want to disrupt that for an older player who's in his prime now.

I didn't say anything about trade values. I didn't agree with OPs take that Suzie would get to 40 before Tage did again.

Why is Buffalo giving up their only producing top 6 center currently?

This is ridiculous to even discuss.

I have no idea why they'd want to move on from Thompson. Great player with lots of upside.

Thompson for Suzuki or is a sideways move for both clubs. Thompson for Caufield would make sense for Buffalo as they produce similarly when healthy but Caufield is three years younger. I don't know why Montreal would do this though because they aren't in a win it now position. If they were, then it might make sense as Thompson has the production and size.

Thompson for Caufield would be horrendous for Buffalo. Brutal.

Love to get Tage to Utah, but I don't see a possible trade scenario which makes sense. He'd fit perfectly centering for Keller. I imagine that GMBA had a lot to do with StL drafting him too.
