At this point I'm praying for it
BriseBois would have to promise him NHL games to end the season to get him to sign. Duke has the leverage, he can demand that, or else he can just go back to Michigan for his senior season and run out the clock to UFA in 2025. If he won't sign, don't be surprised to see him or others like Eamon Powell included in trade packages at the deadline.

Agreed. Duke probably gets traded if it looks like he's headed for UFA.

I think we need to call up gonclaves to inject some life and tenacity into this team. We have too many repeat guys in the bottom 6 and our 2nd line is basically a third line outside of Hagel. I am all for bringing in Dukes and sending watson, abb, or Motte to the press box or minors too.

Duke ideally is a middle 6 forward with great net front presence who scores dirty goals 5v5 & on the PP. He's essentially Killorn with a worse shot.

I said sit 2-3 of those guys. Make your choice which grinder you want to dress jeannott, motte, or watson. Sit the others. Abb is a waste of a roster spot.
Can't believe you never write Sheary in your 3 last messages...
Remember read people in internet hating and blaming the enforcers for play 5 or 6 minutes a night and not having points but you have plenty of players like Sheary making more money than an enforcer and not hitting, not fighting and not doing anything. Hate watch players without blood, who doesn't care about losing a game.

I forgot about him. Add him to the list. How do we have this many players that are fringe nhl players.

I don't know but I don't think Maroon, Colton or Bellemare are more than the ones you call. Sometimes things doesn't work, I blame more the defense and the D system. And I'm in the overpaid side of easily 3 players who don't deserve that contracts, that hurts the level of the low scoring lines.

Assist for Ethan Hay

Klavs Veinbergs is the NCHC rookie of the week

Veinbergs had a breakout weekend to help CC sweep then-No. 2 North Dakota. Entering with three points all season, the Tampa Bay Lightning draft pick more than doubled that in Friday’s game alone with a career-high four points. Veinbergs opened the scoring with a power play goal, then dished out three assists, all on Zaccharya Wisdom goals. His first two helpers were primary assists on the power play, while he also set up Wisdom’s fourth and final tally to cap the 7-1 win. The next night, Veinbergs doled out the primary assist on Logan Will’s game-winning goal in the third period, which broke a 2-2 tie and led to a 6-2 victory.

Veinbergs finished the series with five points, trailing only Wisdom on the weekend among NCHC players. He tallied a goal and four assists, including a trio of primary apples, while posting a +2 plus/minus. After his big weekend, Veinbergs now has two goals, six assists and eight points in 10 games this season.

Syracuse has given a PTO to South Carolina Stingray rookie Austin Magera. That's a pretty good pickup.
I see it as a nothing burger, as Magera is 25 and hasn't played in the A in his career. There's always a chance he exceeds expectations, but I remain skeptical he's even close to Joe Carroll, let alone Groshev, Goncalves, etc

Probably.

But I'm not really looking at it in terms of getting the most high value, high ceiling prospect. If they wanted to do that, the college/junior free agent season is about to start, or they could go younger, with a guy like Carter Souch or Cameron Hillis (although he just got a PTO with Hartford).

I see South Carolina fairly regularly, and Magera just has that little bit extra to him.

Crunch win 2-1 over Utica

- Declan Carlile scores his 6th goal and was also awarded 1st star of the game
- 1 assist for Finley in his 100th AHL game

1 goal + 1 assist for Jack Harvey

Assist for Powell. He's up to 24 points in 30 games

If he can get Duke signed as soon as possible, that would be great. If it's looking like he may not want to sign with Tampa like Walker and Guttman, use him as a solid trader chip in the next week and change.
