Goal Huuhtanen.

Jukurit have been by far the hottest team in Liiga for a while with a 9 game win streak and 14 wins in their last 16 games. Hopefully they can carry that into the playoffs and give Huuhtanen a decent bit of playoff experience.

I can't tell if that is amazing skill by Niko or if he isn't just facing horrible competition

Some variation of both. I don't see why we wouldn't bring him over for next year, he doesn't have much more to achieve in Finland. Although if he goes to Switzerland or Sweden for one more year in Europe as rumored before, both are upgrades over the Finnish league.

I say the Lightning go as hard as they can for him. I think Groshev will be ready by this time next year and Niko can probably track at a similar pace. So long as his skating improves that is.

ELCs have a cap, and he's not getting the max. Those go to the Bedards of the world.

The guy he scored that highlighted goal on yesterday is a top 10 Liiga goalie.

goal for Howard

Crunch lose 3-1 to Belleville, but Groshev scores his 10th goal of the season (22pts in 42 games)

Duke keeps his 13 game point streak alive with a secondary assist.

Dylan's brother Tyler, last summer's development camp invite, is up to 2 goals, 14pts in 20 games

Groshev (who has played in every game for Syracuse this season) is not in the lineup. I’m taking a guess that he’s being called up. Lightning play their first game back from the break on the 7th

Crunch lose 4-3 to Belleville in OT

- Koepke scores his 9th and 10th goals of the season
- Finley scores his 6th
- Goncalves is up to 30 assists in 41 games.

Shalagin is putting up insane numbers in Belarus. Will he get a look in the AHL or is his age/competition too much to overlook?

Looking at his stats, he's probably in Belarus because he can't crack a KHL roster. I don't think there's any way that's worth it, considering he already was over here once and put up pretty bad numbers in Orlando.

He was in Orlando 4 years ago though. But I agree, if he can't crack a KHL roster he probably will have a tough time sticking around in the AHL. The one thing that makes it interesting is how much he's dominating the Belarussian league, he's already broken the goals and points record.

I guess the other question is if he'd be willing to come to North America again.

I felt that Shalagin was a bit underused in Orlando. He was mostly the extra forward (at the time, the ECHL was mostly played with 10 forwards).

The previous holder for most points in a single season ended up in the KHL, although this was several years ago.

I'm not going to pretend as if I have any idea what to make of stats put up in the Belarusian league, but he probably should've been able to make it in the KHL at this point.

Probably makes sense for him to try to crack the KHL first then. We have too many others I'd rather give spots on the roster to (Howard, Huuhtanen, Duke).

Any concerns about signing Howard?
Nope, he wants to be in Tampa. But the concern is always if he wants to sign after next season in spring 2025 and BriseBois won't guarantee him NHL games. NCAA guys, since their season usually ends several weeks before the NHL regular season ends, want to get NHL games to end the year when they sign for the NHL money plus burning of the ELC. If BriseBois doesn't guarantee him that, Howard can go back to State and run out the clock to UFA in summer 2026.
