Apparently both Matthews and Marner suck. We just have better depth. But Tavares is over paid and Nylander is soft and Rielly can't play defense. Trying to get into the mind of an Oiler fan is an interesting experiment.
Matthews being called another Monahan was the funniest one by far. Woof.

I have to admit that when the leafs were down 3-1 I changed my son's pajamas so that he was in his Official Leafs Pajamas.

The leafs went on to tie it and then the won in OT.

:banana::bb::dd::dm::devdance::dumbo::pickle::walrus:

3-1 is the perfect comeback score. You could see with 9 min left Oilers were starting to play more “defensive” “like we got this”...it’s the kiss of death for any team.

They have to keep Galchenyuk on Tavares line for now. It’s early but he’s starting to show good chemistry with two pretty good players. His skill was on display with that first assist and his forecheck on the second. Shows good offensive instincts, and despite what people have said, not horrible defensively.

Well...so much for me taking the credit for last night's win.

That's a mother of all hot takes
Someone replied something similar to that a few weeks ago when I mentioned once Campbell was healthy he would get a run and Andersen wouldn’t be backing him up.
You really believe that if Campbell continues to play well they will go back to Andersen?

I have not read the previous 21 pages, so forgive me if this has already been mentioned. We NEED to stack the 1st PP unit. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing Muzzin on there, if only for 30 seconds or so. Bringing the chance of a slapshot from the point could open things up down below. Our PP is way too predictable.

I just don't see a point in visiting the GDT during the game anymore. Way too many people and posts, 0 meaningful conversations + I am kind of busy actually watching the game.

So true. I didn't visit for years probably but lately I started dropping in just to see if it was true that Andersen was blamed for every single goal we give up ever (it was). But what did I get out of it? Absolutely nothing besides getting annoyed at reading so much stupidity.

It’s about the Leafs and winning, not what Freddy likes. Andersen is done in Toronto.

A huge risk would be moving away from a winning goalie who’s playing well. Obviously all of this depends on Campbell continuing to play well.

You're contradicting yourself. I'm sure we all hope that Campbell is the man but that's far from clear. If Andersen really was injured, manages to get back to being healthy again and Campbell starts playing poorly then trying Andersen again is the obvious move.

I think one statement refers to once the season is over, and the other refers to what may happen for the balance of this one.

i think the jury is still out. If Reimer can lead Carolina to the Stanley Cup final then yes. IMHO Reimer is a better goaltender and team mate (Campbell is a lot like Reimer in that respect). He didn’t get the credit he deserved while in Toronto. Most of the blame for game 7 was placed solely on him even though he outright stole games 5 & 6 and was instrumental in getting the Leafs to their first postseason in over a decade. The Bernier trade and Reimer’s demotion was salt to the wound
I have always said this and still believe it 100%
You do not need a Vezina Trophy winning Goalie to be successful in the playoffs.
You need a goalie who competes and makes the big saves to keep you in tight games.

Yep that’s pretty much what I said. Only thing I would disagree with is it’s not a contradiction, IMO.

The one thing I'd say about these "Andersen is done" type comments is that we've seen a number of goalies come back from the dead lately, look at MAF in Vegas this year. Andersen has battled back from poor stretches multiple times a year since he got here. I won't be surprised to see him string together a good final ~10 games with a solid save%. There's no doubt he'll at least get the opportunity to do it. Campbell isn't going to win every game he plays, which will open the door a bit for Andersen.

Not sure if I'd be comfortable with him in the playoffs again at this point though.
