McDavid was great but that almost penalty + lazy line change in OT was horrendous.

Almost like he was pouting that Mackinnon didn't pass to him and then he had to skate back hard to cover.

The individual hero crap isn’t going to work next time. Cooper needs to actually utilize his roster if they go to OT again. He also really needs to roll the lines more. I get McDavid is the best but this is a team tournament.

I mean he's leading the league in assists, I'm going to chalk it up to lack of chemistry out there in OT.
Fair enough. Not his best there. Goes to show sometimes sticking all your top talent together doesn't make the best result, especially guys with similar skill sets. In a short tournament like this, chemistry is king.

Oilers are pretty skilled at least at forward. Don't think he makes the smart play. Just look at what Crosby did to win the game, pushed in to the zone then fired the puck back to Marner just a high IQ play. McDavid has the skills a skating but lacks the high end IQ.
That pass to Toews in the 3rd was horrible decision making. All knew Gust would get his blocker in it anyway

McDavid should have had 4 points that game. He looked incredible in the first and is only going to get more comfortable when he figures out his linemates tendencies. Mackinnon is way too selfish. The guy doesnt know what a pass is. Ironic he leads the league in assists. Feel like he wants that glory himself at times. Needs to look around once in a while.
Nah McDavid didn't get anything done as a line he just tried desperately to push his own highlight goals.

Meanwhile Crosby used the elite players around him as his tools and result is on the board.

Best player since Lemieux

This is true, and painful. Sid is too loyal.

It has nothing to do with being loyal, he's already won the Cup 3 times and has virtually done everything in the sport. If Sid has no cups or maybe 1, he'd probably be gone by now. Him being a lifer outweighs everything else in his mind probably. Being a lifer in today's era of sports is a massive accomplishment with the amount of player movement that happens in pro sports.

Probably. Man, every time I see McDavid play, I'm in awe. You Oiler fans are lucky to watch that guy every night

Honestly it was a pretty pedestrian night. I mean you guys impressed on a night where most of what he tried only almost worked… one point… … but yeah we are so blessed.

I was 9-13 years old through the Gretzky-Kurri heights, but McDrai is honestly more entertaining.

Point was impressive for me… still a little underwhelmed and befuddled at Cirelli, Parayko and Hagel… with 50 goal and 80 point defenders sitting home, but c’est la vie

This. Sid cares more about a legacy being on 1 team than the possibility of a 4th cup.

Lol McDavid had 1 shot. He spent the whole game passing, unfortunately. Big reason why sticking him with Marner isn't going to work imo.
