There was a 'little brother' thing until the 1980s or so. Observe how some of it was simply economic. Finland had to rebuild everything after paying the largest war reparations in modern history while Sweden had been one of the few European countries that only commercially benefited from WW2 happening. Despite that disparity, relations were always good and cordial. Look at how the annual "Finnkampen" was a thing in Sweden too. Look at how the militaries (especially the navies and air forces) are in cahoots resembling the NORAD setup over the pond. Where it matters, the two countries are pretty darn tootin' close buddies. Yet... for the last couple of decades, looking at the daily news, there hasn't been anything to envy about Sweden, to put it politely. We need to rebuild our relationship with Estonia and the other Baltics anyway.
