That said, I hope he continues to prove people wrong. I also hope he didn't forget how to play the left side, because the right side is stacked, especially if Elvenes plays his proper side at RW.
Fagemo has been playing LW this whole season, so that shouldn't be an issue. First with the Westerholm twins and now with Lundqvist and Lasch.

Thoughts on the goalies?

Some stats for the junior goaltenders in Allsvenskan...

Adam Åhman, Oskarshamn - 669 minutes played, 1.43 GAA, 3 SO, 9W 2L
Samuel Ersson, Västerås - 724 minutes, 1.82 GAA, 3 SO, 9W 3L
Olle Eriksson Ek, Karlskoga - 448 minutes, 2.81 GAA, 2W 5L

It's interesting since Åhman and Ersson has great stats in allsvenskan but really poor stats in international U20 tournaments this season. At the same time Eriksson-Ek was probably the first choice coming into this season. My guess is Eriksson-Ek and Ersson is a little bit ahead right now.

I think option A is great and also pretty likely.
My prefered top line was always:
Bemström - Lundeström - Elvenes

Bemström is great in that position and also plays LW on PP where he scores most of his goals and we know Elvenes performes best on RW. That means that we lose some of that grit we talked about tho, even if I think Lundeström can compensate a bit for that...
And a line with Hållander, Olofsson and Sylvegård/Zetterlund would be seriously tough for any WJC line to face against.

I hope you're right, I'd be pretty confident if Monten iced the Option A lines on December 26th and everybody was healthy (given that the top D pairing is Brannstrom-Liljegren as expected).

Bemström on the left would be a fun thing to try, don't see Monten doing it though as Emil is a right shot and has been playing right wing in SHL, and for Monten too. The fact that Bemström is a right shot consigns him to right wing for Monten, same reason left shot Elvenes keeps getting transplanted to left wing despite his SHL success as right wing. Bemström is very good as a right wing though so I don't really have a problem with him playing there.

All three crapped the bed for the NT this year. Eriksson Ek at least had a good summer showcase, that might put him a bit ahead right now in Monten's eyes. Personally I would start the December prelim games with whoever has the hot hand.

Perhaps you're right. But remember, that top line I mentioned reminds me of last years top line:
Nylander - Andersson - Pettersson
That's what I guessed and hoped for last year, and that's what we eventually got.
One problem is that this years team doesn't have any clear top talents among forwards, so it can go either way it feels.

Anyway, this is probably my final guess for the full starting team:

Bemström - Lundeström - Elvenes
Hållander - Olofsson - Zetterlund
Holmberg - Gustafsson - Sylvegård
Fagemo - Hugg - Södergran

Brännström - Liljegren
Sandin - Boqvist
Ginning - Westerlund

Eriksson-Ek
Ersson

Worth noting that Eriksson Ek is suspended for the first two games. Great opportunity for the other two.

Any chance of a Sandin-Liljegren pairing or will Brannstrom-Liljegren play together for sure?
I don't think anything is set in stone here. If I recall it correctly both Liljegren and Westerlund was paired with Brännström at WJC U18, but that doesn't mean anything. Being a Leafs fan myself, pairing Sandin with Liljegren sounds pretty good to me.

Does anywhere watch Skelleftea closely? As a Detroit fan, I am extremely underwhelmed with Berggren's numbers. Has he really been this invisible all year?

He's been injured for quite some time. I think he played very well before the injury. I think time is running out for him regarding participation in WJC. As an underager he's got more to prove and im afraid he wont have enough games before the selection to build a strong case.

Just wanted to update my Swedish friends from Europe who don't have AHL.tv access about the play of Liljegren and Brannstrom in the AHL.

Liljegren is cruising along at an impressive 0.5 PPG in the AHL, which is significantly ahead of other 2017 1st rounders like Foote and Vaakanainen. He is playing on the top pairing at even strength, and the 2nd PP unit in most of the games I've seen. Liljegren looks excellent as a PP quarterback, and is playing well at both ends of the ice.

Brannstrom is playing on the top pairing in Chicago and is also sporting an impressive 0.75 PPG. Brannstrom is playing on the top PP unit in Chicago, likely because the Wolves don't have a player like the 24 year old Calle Rosen (PPG defenceman who blocks Liljegren from the top PP in Toronto) to block Brannstrom from the top PP unit, so Erik's PPG is as expected even higher. He has rebounded well from his "concussion" in October and is playing well in the offensive zone. He even started throwing a few hits here and there as he gains confidence.

Overall, based on current play these are two of the best WJC eligible defenceman for any team, and are quite easily Sweden's two best players (not just defencemen), IMO.

It would be a shame if they did not run the top powerplay unit together (and the top pairing as well) like they successfully did at the WJC-18 when they defeated Team Canada, because they would give Sweden a huge advantage whenever they touched the ice together as a pairing.

Saw a Sarnia game last weekend and came away very impressed with Hugo Leufvenius. He is a lot better than when he started out the year and I hope the Golden Knighs can acquire him next summer.

Leufvenius has 4 goals, 2 assists in his last 4 games, and leads his OHL team with 31 points in 26 games, including 17 goals (12 at ES). He is 1st place on his OHL team for goals and points. He's 17th in the OHL in points and 11th in goals. He causes turnovers on the forecheck and chaos in front of the net with his strength. Also has good hands around the net. If he was not on a bottom 5 team in the OHL, his stats would undoubtedly be even more impressive. He even leads the Swedish U-20 NT in points per game right now, though he did not play in the summer showcase.

Sweden is already weak on the left wing, and getting weaker now that Berggren and Sveningsson have both disappointed. On small ice, a left wing power forward like Leufvenius could come in handy in the bottom 6.

Sveningsson having 18 points (9 goals) in 22 Allsvenskan games is disappointing? Or were you talking about international play?

Right now, I'm hoping that Sveningsson and Leufvenius both make the final roster.

what are Sebastian Walfridsson's chances of making the team? Is he still injured?
