We will be keeping Carr up. That's almost guaranteed. He's been playing with DD and Shaw pretty consistently and has had a great camp. It's not like Therrien to play a guy in one spot for all of camp and then do something else with him. His goal last night pretty much cemented his spot.

Also, Mark Barberio was placed on waivers this afternoon. This should open up enough room to keep Andrighetto up.

Forwards: Galchenyuk, Pacioretty, Gallagher, Plekanec, Radulov, Lehkonen, Shaw, Desharnais, Mitchell, Danault, Byron, Carr, Andrighetto, Flynn (14)

Defensemen: Weber, Markov, Beaulieu, Petry, Sergachev, Emelin, Pateryn, Redmond (8)

Goalies: Price, Montoya (2)

We still have to cut one player... Sergachev will likely stick for minimum 9 games... in that case, we waive Flynn?

Not sure how much good it does to waive Flynn to keep Sergachev for 9 games. Unless you're certain no one will take Flynn. You can say it wouldn't be a huge loss, but it's still a needless one.

Well in any case i personally wasn't expecting Andrighetto to be put on waivers.

Exactly this. Lehkonen has proven he's NHL ready and top 6 potential. McCarron had an overall good camp, much better than Ghetto and Carr but because Carr and McCarron dont have to go through waiver, they will both be sent down and Andrighetto will stay to start the season.

They're not going to trade an NHL ready player for an asset possibly worst than him just because they dont have space for him right now.

With Flynn injured, and Barberio on waivers, they gonna keep Andrighetto, and possibly McCarron as their #13 and #14 forwards. Condon gonna be dealt for a low pick or an obscure AHL d-man who doesn't have to go thru waivers.

By the way, Carr is way better and more useful than Andrighetto.

Why get rid of Andrighetto for literally nothing??? There will be injuries. There will be slumps. Lehkonen has 0 games played.. Carr 23.. Andrighetto in the 40's I think. The three of them will compliment each other well all season.

We'd be dumb to just let Andrighetto walk. He would get claimed.

I'd let him sit as the 13th forward until we see more of Lehkonen/Carr. The three could swap in and out of the lineup until we find out the two most effective.

Flynn makes more sense as the 13th forward (more versatility) but I haven't given up on 'Ghetto. With a bunch of players almost NHL Ready (Lehkonen, Carr, Andrighetto, Hudon, McCarron) and then some a couple seasons away (Scherbak, Addison, Audette) we probably do want to make a trade or two. Obviously only 3 or 4 of these guys will actually stick and carve out good NHL careers, but none have top line potential, these are all middle 6 players.

I dont know if MB/MT will risk waiving a roster player just to keep Sergachev for 9 games. We know how big MT is on Flynn.

McCarron is still with the big club so thats 2 more to cut
3 if you count Condon

I think MT is realizing they need size in their bottom-6 and McCarron has it. He also looks much better than he did when called up last year. But it's a tough decision when keeping him might cause you to lose asset through waivers.

I think they're really evaluating the situation thoroughly.

He played on our 1st line vs Toronto tonight, management wanted to put him in a position to succeed, he had an ok game. Dunno what they're gonna do with him tbh.

He has lost his spot IMO. Trade him to a team that could use some depth in their top-9. Calgary seems like a good place for him, they lack depth as is and dont even have Gaudreau signed yet. Anaheim until Rakell is back. Los Angeles until Gaborik is back? Plenty of options.

They put him there because Pacioretty was out and didn't want to touch the other lines..

they put him there so he could prove himself (and it was possibly a showcase, there were A LOT scouts at last nights game).. Andrighetto can play both wings but he's mainly a RW'er.

If Habs trade Andrighetto and Condon, it will be for young players who can help at AHL level now, or who are still playing Junior hockey. They have almost no cap space available, and already have enough signed player on a one way only NHL contracts.

Exactly. If not in a bigger package in a bigger trade, Bergevin will trade Andrighetto for a prospect one or two years younger.

Bergevin can also trade him because Habs have now some depth on wings. It's not by accident that Hudon has been tried on RW during camp, as Mccarron was last game.

It's not because he's not good, it's a matter of circumstances. Andrighetto will be traded soon.
