Andrighetto could fill a spot on an offensively challenged team, on the top 9. You could possibly receive a b prospect still in the minors or on ELC.

We will keep him. I see a guy like Redmond or Barberio being send down.

I wouldn't mind doing that, problem is i don't see Andrighetto being ok with that role, he'd probably ask for a trade. Guess we'll have to see how things pan out.

There is no future for Andrigheto with the Habs. Hudon is more versatile than him and still waiting in the AHL. McCarron sems to be wanted on this roster as soon as this year or next.

DD will be gone next season. His replacement at center will be Shaw, McCarron or Hudon, placing Ghetto in a tough spot.

Mtl will probably lose Hudon or Ghetto or Pateryn to expansion draft.

....

I already touched on that point in my post, Ghetto isn't a player you keep as 13th forward. Flynn is our 13th forward, that's what he gets paid to do in the NHL. He's a 4th line plug that gets paid to be an extra forward.

Ghetto is a young player who wants and NEEDS to play games, he's a middle 6 player that's NHL ready, he won't accept sitting in the press box.

Or you keep him on the team to see how things gel as the season starts and he either plays his way into the line or you trade him then.

With injuries, he will play and he will need to earn his spot. If he doesn't, then trade him for a prospect like we did with Smith-Pelly for example.

Strikes me everytime....in here....habs players have no value. And yet...Parenteau leaves Montréal and starts scoring. DSP leaves Montréal and starts scoring. So people in here can't think that other GM's might think that playing in Montréal, playing Under Therrien, might stiffle anybody's game, and they could do better with them? Isn't there enough proofs that you can progress the day you leave us? And frankly, it's not only us, it happens to quite a few guys leaving any team....but in Montréal lately, Under Therrien, if I'm another GM, I'd be all over a whole lot of Habs players....Andrighetto is clearly one of them. Nobody will tell me that every single team is stacked and couldn't use a kid like him.

That's the 'Only' 2 players that started scoring after leaving Montreal and they are bottom 6 players soft as butter and overpaid (Parenteau) and not in shape (Smith-Belly).

This thread is too premature. Lehkonen hasn't been dominant (merely OK to good), let's see how he does once the season begins.

Carr has not done much in the last few games aside from his 2 goals.

This team was ravaged by injuries last year and the lack of wing options was a farce. Now we finally appear to have some wing depth, why throw some of it away because 1 player may be upset at sitting out games to start the year?

I agree that I don't see Andrighetto as a long-term fit on the Habs but having him around makes the team better right now, even in a lesser role. He's likely more valuable to us than the pick we'd get in return for him.

Anaheim would likely offer the most for him as they need cheap offensive wingers.

Well that's the recent history about where we are with Therrien right now. How about knowing if it's a recent trend? Can't we think that Therrien might be at the end of his shelf life hence maybe not having the proper voice for some of his players?

My point exactly. :handclap:

In addition to all the other points made already I fail to see why he can't be an extra forward.

Those "good enough to be waived, not good enough to be on roster" kind of guy always ends up being traded for a conditional pick or the like.

"Definitely won't clear waivers"...well we all heard that one before!

Yeah he probably clears. Why is a guy who is getting cut by Montreal so valuable? Every team is making tough cuts right now and if you claim Ghetto you gotta keep him on roster all year. Potentially stuck with some deadweight in February.

Flames would be all over it if it's only a 3rd or 4th rounder. We really need one more guy upfront that can play in the NHL.

For a 3rd or Pokka I'd be okay but I still hope Ghetto will stick and play on the top9. Offensively gifted and good potential, I love his play... I'd do:

Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Gallagher
Lehkonen/Andrighetto - Plekanec - Radulov
Andrighetto/Lehkonen - Desharnais - Shaw
Danault - Mitchell - Byron
Extra: Flynn

McCarron & Carr to the AHL because they are waiver exempt and will play a lot of hockey there. Then they'll be the first two guys to get recalled when we'll have injuries, which will probably occurs quickly. Plus we can keep both Redmond & Barberio and go 13-8-2. Only player that will get waived is Condon and I don't think he'll be claimed. If so, too bad. Would rather lose Condon than Ghetto!

Edit: Barberio just got waived, that means less chances Ghetto will be.

We can keep 14 forwards, we can keep Carr too. We don't need to put out the same bottom 6 every single night. Just keep your best players on the roster.

We will be keeping Carr up. That's almost guaranteed. He's been playing with DD and Shaw pretty consistently and has had a great camp. It's not like Therrien to play a guy in one spot for all of camp and then do something else with him. His goal last night pretty much cemented his spot.

Also, Mark Barberio was placed on waivers this afternoon. This should open up enough room to keep Andrighetto up.

Perimeter player and smaller...probably going to be hard pressed to stay in the NHL.
