Andrighetto is an NHL ready top 9 and possibly even a top 6 player.

MTL has Radulov/Gallagher as our top 6 RW'ers and both Lehkonen and Carr have had strong camps, it's likely that Andrighetto is getting moved because he's not the type of player that you keep as a 13th forward.

He definitely won't clear waivers either so our management will probably look to trade him, which team needs a top 9/middle 6 RW'er?

I already touched on that point in my post, Ghetto isn't a player you keep as 13th forward. Flynn is our 13th forward, that's what he gets paid to do in the NHL. He's a 4th line plug that gets paid to be an extra forward.

Ghetto is a young player who wants and NEEDS to play games, he's a middle 6 player that's NHL ready, he won't accept sitting in the press box.

Truthfully Andrighetto has very little value. Just about all teams have a prospect who is an offensive player who would have to pass through waivers. Teams would rather promote from within as opposed to sending an asset away for him.

Well said.

All teams appear to have too much depth at this time of year, since we hear all about all the great players we have and little about other teams, who usually are in a similar situation.

I figure at best MTL might get a 4th rounder from a team looking for a guy with offensive potential to give a chance to, or we might see him traded for an equivalent guy at a different position/different playing style.

I wouldn't get my hopes up, in any case.

Sens offer Matt Puempel.

Straight downgrade who plays at a position we're stacked at already and isn't waiver exempt. I'd consider if Puempel were a RWer but he's not. Ghetto is more flexible and hasn't looked out of place at the NHL level. Just with Lehkonen cracking the team Shaw gets pushed to the third line and Carr is a favourite of management. Ghetto can play center but DD is you know.

Don't even know what the ask for Ghetto would be. We have no open spots anywhere in the lineup until injury. Maybe packaged with someone else for an upgrade somewhere. Even then third line center is only place to upgrade now. Assuming the price for a top pairing LHD isn't reasonable now.

I call baloney on this. You keep your best and most promising players and rotate them in and out of the lineup based on play and minor injuries. This pushes all players to play their best. I notice you haven't mentioned McCarron who is waiver-exempt, do you see him on the team ahead of Andrighetto?

Lehkonen has forced his way on to the team, in a top 6 role. That pushes Shaw to the third line. DD has a guaranteed spot until he retires or Therrien is fired. That leaves one spot open, Carr has had a better camp. If management keeps Carr up Ghetto sits in the press box. Byron-Mitchell-Danault have been great together. So one of Flynn, Ghetto, Barberio have to be waived. Assuming Redmond has secured the 7th dman spot.

Personally I'd just send Carr down, as he's waiver exempt and hasn't been THAT much better than Ghetto. Or trade DD. Ghetto and Shaw can both play C.

Because you are asking someone to take on an unproven guy who is not waiver nor expansion draft exempt and salary cap space is so tight, some team might offer a 4th or 5th round pick.

The reason why teams WOULD easily take him on is because of his caphit, 650K and he still has alot of cost controlled (RFA) years. He can fill a middle 6/top 6 (as a complimentary player with a strong center) role immediately for cheap. Look up his advanced stats, his underlying numbers are great.. also did you see him play at the World Championships a few months ago? He had a strong tourney there aswell.

The kid can play, I'm actually really sad that we're being forced to make a tough decision in regards to his future w/ the team. I like Shaw but adding him to our roster feels unnecessary right now because we have guys like Ghetto who can fill that middle 6 role, of course Bergevin couldn't have foreseen that we'd be adding Lehkonen to our roster aswell.

Exactly this. Lehkonen has proven he's NHL ready and top 6 potential. McCarron had an overall good camp, much better than Ghetto and Carr but because Carr and McCarron dont have to go through waiver, they will both be sent down and Andrighetto will stay to start the season.

They're not going to trade an NHL ready player for an asset possibly worst than him just because they dont have space for him right now.
