Last time the Chiefs offensive line was overwhelmed like this they immediately acted. They need to move Thuney back to guard and in reality get two new starting tackles. That is probably nearly impossible though. They need to pay Smith too.

For as much talk as there was about their interior being the weakness they got killed on the ends. By far the best game of the year by the Eagles dline. They weren't really great this year rushing the passer, it was their back 7 that was so good in coverage. Put a dominant rush like that with excellent coverage and this is how you get a blowout.

Yeah, the Chiefs have had a bunch of turnover from their prior wins, but it's time for a bigger overhaul.

And the Eagles provide an excellent example of how it can be done. You can use a couple of drafts, trades, and free agency to revamp a big chunk of the roster in short order to bounce back to contention. That said, it's not at all easy to do. You have to have an unusually awesome draft hit rate.

Taylor can't be moved really. His $19 mill base salary for 2025 became guaranteed back in March 2024. Monster dead cap charge if you cut him. No one is trading for him. The KC IOL is good when they have Thuney, Creed, Smith. But, Smith is a free agent and as a day 3 guy should look to secure his big payday. Maybe KC ends up moving that big OT from BYU over to OG if he can't handle playing OT in the NFL. But, they need to figure something out with him. Have at least 2 holes on the OL to file.

Veach needs to make some moves and needs his picks to hit. 2023 1st Felix A-U the DE and their 2024 2nd round OT didn't pan out as hoped. When you are a good team and are paying your guys you need your top picks to hit as you will be letting guys walk.

The Chiefs have have been the league's darling for bullshit officiating for years, Mahomes in particular.

And with less than half the Q4 remaining in the game or something at that point in time. KC was not going to score 4 times with multiple 2 PATs plus multiple onside kick recoveries.

Each PHI possession, even taking a knee is running 2 minutes off the clock with the 40 second play clock between plays.

Some people just grasp at something to complain about.

Refs, overall, I didn't like that they got flag happy. Hated all the big calls. OPI, unnecessary roughness, then personal foul for late hit. Think all of those could have been picked up.

The couple of holding, offsides, illegal snap on FG were good calls.

That's also how the Giants stopped the Pats from having a perfect season. Their front 4 had a great game.

When building teams, too often the weapons on O get all of the attention and glamour and they neglect that weapons are meaningless without protection.
On D, it all starts up front. Better to have top notch DL than elite secondary or LB. DBs can only cover for so long and LBs can't make tackles if OL get to the second level to make blocks.

Last year's draft was heavy on the OL as that was the deep part of the draft. Then DL went. Secondary, LB, IOL went after that.

You look back, PHI making it to 2 SB, kind of started with the Wentz deal to Indy. Got a 1st and 3rd back while eating $30 mill or so of dead cap to do it, but used that Indy first and their own 1st to trade with NO to swap a 1st and get back 1 first a year later in 2023, but add a 2nd in 2024 and 3rd.

Traded up to get Davis the DT. Carter was the player they got in the following year's 1st. Also used the extra NO 2nd to help them trade up to grab DeJean.

Teams rarely trade back a year for a pick, but the extra picks made sense as it was picks in the teens they were dealing to a NO team where Brees had retired. So, a good chance the pick was going to be before #20, so worst case, around the same range.

However, one thing has been true throughout the years: If you can get consistent pressure with only rushing 4 it's going to be hard to beat you.

And typically in a cap world, it's hard to maintain a strong DL. PHI had Sweatt on a value contract. Like $10 mill and is due up. Carter on rookie Deal. Davis on rookie deal. Smith on rookie deal. A lot of draft capital there. Plus, depth guys on rookie deals in Williams was a former 3rd. Orjomo a 7th,

Their OL is Johnson a 1st from a dozen years ago. Dickerson and Jurgens were 2nd rounders on rookie deals. Malaita was a 7th former Aussie football player whom they developed. Becton was a free agent reclamation project and Steen was their swing OG a 3rd rounder also on a rookie deal.

Looking at the 4 draft classes on rookie deals for the Eagles and who played big roles for them in this SB:
Mitchell, Dejean, Hunt, Carter, Smith, Brown, Davis, Jurgens, Dean, Smith, Dickerson, Williams, Gainwell. Plus a couple more depth guys.

Starters 2 at CB, 3 on DL, 2 on OL, WR, LB, S.

The Ravens (alot of Zay Flowers) completely melted down last year at home and this year their first in Buffalo was terrible. I don't think them or the Bills would have beaten the Eagles but it wouldn't have been a lopsided.

Eagles would have dropped 60 minimum on the Bills. MINIMUM. The Bills defense is trash, they couldn't stop neither the Ravens or the Chiefs. The Ravens stopped themselves by turning the ball over and over and over and over...

I would agree. But, when you have possession and move the ball, you need to score. Leave a good team around and they will capitalize on that chance.

Multiple times, NE should have lost games on route to winning 6 SB. But, good teams don't beat themselves.

Hurts was excellent in their 1st SB matchup. But, had that key fumble for a TD return. But, overall strong game. Had the Bradbury hold not been called, he would have had a minute to get PHI into FG range for the tie.

This game, I wouldn't put as much of their success on Hurts. He made some good throws early as KC was keying in on Barkley. (Got unlucky with the OPI on Brown which was a perfect throw, but got a favorable call on his over throw to Goeddert which resulted in an unnecessary roughness call) to extend the drive as it would have been 4th and long from the KC 45 or something. But, it was a 10-0 game until Dejean got that pick 6. Then after a couple of punts (also helped by a rather weak late hit on Barkley call) they ended up pinning KC deep which Pat threw another pick.

2nd half, Hurts ran the ball a lot. Smart move to tell him that the only way KC can beat them is if they turn the ball over, so only throw when it's open. Just manage the game at that point. Once they drove down for that FG in Q3 on their first second half possession and ate up like 7 minutes of clock, the game was over. Under 21 minutes from that point for KC to score 4 times (with at least 3 TDS). And KC is not an explosive offence anymore since they moved off Hill. You just can't recover onside kicks these days. Under 10%. So, each PHI possession would kill at least 2 minutes off the clock.

MVP was really down to him or Sweatt. Sweatt would have needed to have one of his sacks be a strip sack. Otherwise, hard to find one overwhelming Eagle to give it to on D. Entire D was excellent.
