It's not the officials calling specifically in favor of one team, it's that the team penalized is not keeping up and also not making smart plays.

I agree. When one team dominates possession and chances like Finland are, it's only natural that they're going to get more power play opportunities. I have no real problem with the officiating overall. There are going to be missed calls here and there. Complaining about one of the referees being Finnish is, quite frankly, ridiculous.

You still have to evaluate the reffing on the calls made not on their nationality, if the calls were infractions, they have no choice but to call them.


You can't automatically resort to "ref must be helping team" as your default position, you are abandoning reason when doing this.

Being used to NHL can make you expect that actual fouls committed don't matter and that the goal for referees is instead to equalize penalties between teams.

Now, I'm not saying all the calls have necessarily been accurate but it's pretty normal for the team that constantly has the puck in the offensive zone to deserve more power plays.

So many folks here are good at seeing things reasonably when it's in their perceived favour, not so much when it isn't.

Obviously, i feel like this sortof bias is more common in newer hockey fans, with time you learn to let go of that haha i've been there.

Okay I get they're trying but TSN coverage really loves misidentifying Finnish players and their family connections, and also constantly typo player names. I mean, come on. Pressing control + C isn't that hard. Looking at family connections on eliteprospects isn't that hard.

Keep an eye out for Raty, Hirvonen, Jurmo. They have been the most visible players all game, Raty and Hirvonen have good chemistry going.
