I never knew the top-loading hot dog rolls were a New England thing until I moved away. Now I can't find them f***ing anywhere and all anyone sells at any of the stores are the crusty side-loading ones. It's objectively terrible.
They’re becoming harder and harder to find in the southcoast area where i shop too. Maddening. I don’t love hot dogs, but a good New England style bun is a game changer

A friend of mine from PA fell in love with them after visiting here. Used to buy a dozen bags every visit and freeze them when she got home.

A friend brought me back a jar of the world's best apple butter. The Apple Barn used to have a store in Opry Mills mall, but when their store got flooded out during the 2010 flood, they never reopened here. Now you have to travel about two hours to their main store. :( They have the best apple butter and cider I've ever had. It's been a few years, tastes even better than I remembered. YUM.

It's almost impossible to get apple butter in Australia. No apple cider donuts either. We're massively missing out!

Apple butter is easy to make in a slow cooker or instant pot. Dice up some apples, add cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, nutmeg, etc, a bunch of brown sugar and white sugar, cook it, mash it, boil it down until it's thick, and you've got apple butter.

Thanks. I've thought before about having a crack at making some but have never done it. Think I just need to get on and give it a try!

What's up with the ESPN+ sponsored add on the top of every forum today? A. It looks terrible/illegible with dark mode and B. I bought a sponsorship membership here so I didn't have to see ads but am still getting these everywhere now.

I almost fell over when I saw this at the grocery store. Hadn’t seen any in like 35 years

Where do you live? Gansett has been around New England and New York for a long time now. I belive Genesse in Rochester contract brews all their stuff that goes to retail.

I live in northeastern CT. Truly I hadn't seen this anywhere in years. Then again, I never looked

‘Gansett was resurrected in 2005. In 2017 moved to a brewery in R.I.
I only know this because my late best friend from Franklin he and his brothers grew up on this foul beer.

They actually went down to the brewery in ‘05 to buy first cases being sold again.
We always kidded them about it. But it brought back nostalgia to them from their teen years in the 70s I guess.

The dive bar where I used to win trivia every Wednesday back in the day had Gansetts for like $1.75 a tallboy so we loaded up on them while crushing trivia. It's honestly not that bad for cheap beer. Then they ended up switching to PBR which is actually grotesque and undrinkable.
