OT: Summer Fitness Thread

We have A LOT of former athletes where do the training. SO the competition level is super high. But so too is the support.

Currently doing all of the Open workouts. Not at all on that level, but doing it.

In two weeks, going to try the 3 bars of death wod. 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. Deadlift at 1.5 body weight, bench press at body weight, squat cleans at .75 body weight.
I am nowhere on your level, dude. lol

Utilizing this period of "social distancing" to fine tune my diet and go low calorie. I'm about 10 pounds from ideal weight and hope to be there by the time things settle down.

Those shoulder exercises "for women" are not as easy as they look with above medium heavy weights

I'll try not to go too off the rails but basically with this "down time" due to working from home it's time to get more into the gym as long as the gym doesn't shut down. There have been way less people at the gym so I'll take it.

Recently I've had two "romantic failures" in my life. One from someone I've known recently who I had a lot in common with and was really into fitness. When I laid it all out there and the response wasn't positive, I knew there'd be no coming back. The other is from someone I've had a thing for for a very long time who lives very far away but in this day and age there are ways around it and working remote. That's more hazy but in any event it's essential to work out more right now because the feeling of these two things is a lot to take in and deal with all while having a very stressful job and with everything going on.

Even though I feel really mentally drained and down from this, I'm trying my best to intermittent fast, eat relatively well when I do eat, and go to the gym. I'm hoping it will get me out of this funk and lead to good things.

The main point of the diatribe is look: sometimes you're not going to feel 100% or want to go to the gym but going in and getting something done is better than skipping all together. Not every workout needs to be a cross fitness, PX 90, interval training and 5 mile run masterpiece. Do what you can handle and the rest will take care of itself. Don't max out just lift and do good reps even if it's at 40-50% and your body will remember it if you keep it up.

Even if it's 45-60 min 4x a week rather than 2-3x a week at two hours each.

I've already lost weight because I haven't been eating as much but I'm hoping to go back to my mid-20s toneness.

Good as of a bump as anything. Tore my triceps a month ago and had surgery 3 weeks ago. Went back to training a week after surgery as soon as the stitches came out and cast came off.

Lots of one armed kettleball stiff (squats, C&J, snatches, etc). Light barbell work in end of April and full on in May. Still intend to try to compete in September/October.

Couldn’t sit home at all and feel sorry for myself.

kettlebells>rowing machine but rowing machine is good too.

I was talking more from machines perspective probably. I mean some 3-2-1 or other HIIT (or whatever they called) exercise programs would be a bigger calorie burn than machines for sure.

My wife got a Peloton shortly after the holidays. I’ve been home for a week now so I’m using this heavily. All that pent up aggression from being stuck in the house all day.

I do my workouts in the provided, free office gym. They recently added a Peloton bike. I've taken it up and am starting to get addicted. And I hated spinning.

have had Pelaton for a month and today was the first time my legs felt good. Rough four week of tight legs, leg fatigue during workouts, burning, etc. May have turned a corner

check the height of the seat if you’re overly sore. My knees were sore initially but I just had the seat too low. There’s a few YouTube clips where they show you how to best measure for your height.

It likely also means your body weight is a little forward. When the instructor tells you to sit your butt on the fat part of the saddle, your arms should be fully but comfortably extended with your hands a couple of inches into the handlebars.

Bottom line is get yourself more upright.

Any good recommendations for those apartment-bound? I plan to do a walking circuit outside since it's decently nice out, but something to do indoors would be good with all this sudden free time.

Is this an everyday workout, or like every other day? I think I could rotate this with an outdoors walk or something.

I'm not looking to get fit or anything (will be joining a gym in whatever area my fiancee and I move to in a few months), but my job is a very active one, so I'm always moving and whatnot. But since I'm now basically going to be living at home, I need some way to just move a bit.
