What purpose does losing that extra however many pounds have other than self-actualization? And if you need to force yourself to be self-actualized are you actually self-actualized? Or is there some model chick you want to date that only dates 10s and you're currently a 9.5?

That’s kinda why I don’t cleanup my diet, and I kudos you for saying it. I’m of the same mind. My girl thinks I’m attractive, I can still run and do spartan races and all that good stuff, and I’m strong. To me, I am self actualized. Yes, I’d love to have a Hollywood body, but the fact is I enjoy the balance between working out hard and eating like a crazed Viking conqueror equally as much. I’m fulfilled.

The thing is it's sometimes good to do "correct" things just to add discipline to your life, but it doesn't seem like you need that. I mean, if you're eating in such a way that will have adverse health effects that may be reason enough to do it, but it doesn't sound like that.

The thing is that at some point you do feel like crap after eating like that, and that more than anything else, makes you stop.

I am in the exact same boat. I’m 33, my mobility isn’t the greatest (I could actually stretch but who has time for that) and I struggle with muscling my Olympic lifts instead of good form. I think my competing days in powerlifting are over now that I’ve separated from the military. I still enjoy lifting heavy but I’m moving up to NJ with my girlfriend and I’ll probably start CrossFit with her, tone down a bit, focus on my form more and lift heavy for my own satisfaction once or twice a week.

The site doesn’t let you upload videos or I’d provide some proof, not to show off but just because, in my experience when someone says they’ve got a 600lb deadlift people are skeptical
No reason not to believe. I actually do my training at a Box, so have seen some pretty amazing things when it comes to lifts.

CrossFit works very well. My view is that it maintains strength but probably does not solely build it. When it comes to the wods, it is basically grip it and rip it. I do accessory work when it comes for strength (power and oly). Have also taken 8 week cycles which for 3 days a week concentrate on nothing but either power lifting or Oly lifts.

What I like best about CrossFit is I will never push myself that hard on my own. I can’t pick a wod, walk in to my gym and just force myself to do it, all out. Make 6 other people do it with me and all of a sudden my motivation is tripled and my friendly competitiveness means I’m hauling ass. That’s not to say I don’t push myself and have good workouts routinely, but I can’t workout in that style without the competitive group atmosphere. Actually a silly reason to spend $100+ on a membership, but it works.

Best investment you can make is in yourself. For the type of training you receive, it is money well worth it. Unfortunately, it is much more expensive than $100/month. Or even $200/month.

You are right on the group aspect of it. Doing a wod with 1 other people, pushes you. It is competitive, but also very supportive. Very much a "check your ego at the door" type of vibe. At least where I am. Whatever you think you can do, there are always people who can do better or more. The competition is against yourself.

Anyone hear into the new craze of Impossible/Beyond/plant meat that tastes like real meat? I know it's not THAT healthy and if you eat it with all of your 14-21 meals a week (depending on intermittent fasting) it's not making you a healthy person, but once or twice a week it's not bad.

As I've mentioned I don't get to workout as much because of long work hours + commute (I'll do the gym 2-3 times a week usually cardio heavy with light weights both weekend days and sneak one in once during the week at like 8-9:30 PM) but being a "fake vegan" and stay away from meat 4-5 days during the week has helped me to not feel as sloppy. I actually had a few coworkers tell me I've lost weight since I started.

Eight more pounds to go and I'll be satisfied. My goal during the fall is to try to increase gym to 4-5 times a week meaning wake up at 4:30 and get 1-2 sessions in per week along with the weekends and one night.

Bought a smart scale for like $25. Where has this been all my life?

https://www.amazon.com/RENPHO-Bluet...eywords=Scale&qid=1567641740&s=gateway&sr=8-5

BTW, green is normal. Not bad if I may say so myself! Metabolic age of 29, I'm 33. I'll take that and run!

You can win Mr. Universe during an NFL tv timeout.

Heh, switch em up thankfully.

Period intermissions/halftime are when the crunches take place. I swear in your late 30's any realistic chance of abs disappear unless you dehydrate yourself.

And by "dehydrate" you mean no beer, of course?
