Sudbury Wolves 2024-25 Season Thread, Part III

WTF do you want? A 7th and 8th pick. obviously you haven’t been paying much attention, it’s a sellers market and if true the kid will play his OA year in the O
Exactly you are paying for an overage year at the same time. So its decent value if that's the case. In addition the kid plays a robust game which will be important come playoffs. When you look at the defence returning next year. Blonda, O'Dell, Jackson (unless dealt), Smith, Wreggitt, Bruce (unless dealt), Ewles (OA or trade for pics), possibly Kearns if he signs. And if we acquire Mews. We have to do something folks and its a decent start.

I want smart trades, not trading for the guy who leads the OHL in penalty minutes. Per the Brantford trhead, he's a third pairing d-man who takes dumb penalties but plays with heart. Does this guy move the needle on this rosters potential? This is my problem with these trades, the current roster has a good shot to go to the 2nd round, but is a fair ways behind Barrie and Oshawa. Even adding Roberts, Mews, McCue I don't think changes that potential that much, does it?

The rumored Mews trade combined with the other rumors of him going off to University of Michigan next year are a bit worrisome as well.

If Mews does decide to go NCAA next season I'm sure due diligence is done and that conditions are put on those pics. If we are privy to this as a possibility I'm sure management is too.

Plus, I think the kid wore a letter so he can’t be that bad. Also, not giving up a young player will cost extra picks.
