I think it should be spread across two scoring lines, but everyone is going to have to get used to Dvorsky, Goyette, Musty playing 1/3 of 5 on 5 and all man advantage situations. It is the reason St. Louis has Dvorsky in Sudbury.
If there are players on the roster unhappy about it, they can ask to be moved to a bottom third team prior to the trade deadline.

Musty last night showed without a doubt he is the wolves best puck possession player and set up more scoring chances than any other. I don’t think there should be a lot of complaining of plays dying on the stick of a player that effectively controlled the play all game.
Goyette has not shown he really cares about defense under three coaches. Just accept that he will not change his game until he reaches a level where he has to, to earn TOI. I just wish Delic was/will be his centre.

If I get a chance I’ll post a little more of my thoughts on Musty, Goyette and the Wolves tomorrow. The team I’m pretty sure I wanna see representing the East in this year’s OHL finals. After watching the game and then his interview though? I had to comment. That is probably the most impressive debut for a European on NA ice I’ve seen. No preseason adjustment. I showed up yesterday. Let’s go! Lights out debut. Then “I’m gonna follow it up with the most humble, mature, professional press conference”. Just killed it. Super impressed by him. From opening face off win to the end of the press conference. If Quentin and David (I’m actually a big fan of both) start following the standard he set tonight? Look out OHL. Everybody is in trouble.
Do you have an idea of what is up with Hayes; is he supposed to let Kressler and Giroux drive the play while finding soft spots to receive passes or be a trailer in case of turnovers?
Can’t really see the whole game with CHLlive, but seeing the entire ice last night Hayes looked like a passenger.

I have feeling Gaulton will be called up soon, playing well for Espanola.

Game in and game out, Lando shows how important he is going forward. Maybe he will finally get some credit on this board.
100% agree. He has been great. That’s the version of #11 we love. I have done my fair share of criticizing his game. So would just like to say he has been one of our best players last couple games without much recognition. Great playmaker and vision with a nice surprise of finishing as of late. Fits nicely on either one of the top two lines due to his versatility. Has high end skill to go along with grit and defensive awareness. When staying away from the box he is easily in our top 6 IMO

How confident are we he's going to keep it up? He seemed to have it together at the end of last year but then decided to take one of the dumbest playoff penalties I've ever seen. When he plays like this, I have no doubt every one of us are happy to have him on the team, but I'd love to see him keep it together for 10-15 straight games.

Delic as winger +4
Delic as a center -5 in 4 games and not a single goal on his line.
Goyette +5 at center
Goyette even as winger last night
Konyen is driving himself out of Sudbury. Key mistakes and -2 last night.
I love Musty’s skills but last night he looked out of it trying to make too many plays by himself. He was -1 last night.
Dvorsky is the best I have seen in a while on puck protection. He was -2 last night.
I said McCallum was good and deserved playing a bigger role and a lot of you laughed at me ha ha ha ha. At 2c he will do the job
Krawchuck gave up 3 goals on 10 shots. Only reason we lost.

Maybe you’re mixed up with numbers just saying…

selected stats?
How much of that -5 by Delic at centre was with Goyette & Musty on his wing compared to second stringers on Delic’s wings?
Campaign all you want, Goyette’s lack of defense and physical strength makes him better suited on the wing.

Krawchuk was not the reason the wolves lost. Goals were scored on a break due a miscue by a wolves’ skater, a perfectly placed shot by Giroux realizing a partial screen, and a bullet bad angle shot by K.Pitre that was somewhat similar but closer range than the bullet fired by Dvorsky.
Maybe giving coach too much credit, but pulling Krawchuk was a good way to slow Flint’s momentum and light a fire under the wolves’ skaters

Do you know why all the top smaller player play center in the NHL ? Because its a game of speed agility and stop and starts. Delic is brutal this year at center because nobody told him what stop and starts are. He wheels all the time and it makes his line vulnerable… Have you played hockey ? It helps understand where to slot players. I wrote last year that on a winning team Delic is either 2nd line winger or third line center. It’s looking that way more and more and its fine. That’s where he belongs.

The top smaller players are centers at the NHL level? What?

Of the top 20 scoring centers last year only 3 are under 6'0"
Of the top 20 scoring wingers 7 are under 6'0"

Do you watch NHL hockey?

So you don’t embarrass yourself again, that question gives the impression you have not played above the minor hockey level

Eastern Cup rosters will be coming out soon and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s on the shortlist. If I were Paps I’d keep him down there playing a lot and developing. No need for it yet. We’ll need him ready next year.

I think if he’s playing well will need to bring him up he’s a second year player, needs OHL experience. I’m sure he will get the test and will see if he has surpassed Krawchuk. I think his ceiling is higher than Krawchuk, and should get his chance. The Wolves then will evaluate his progress.

Tead my post you sound like you just don’t want to get it. When you say a player is bad at something please try to state facts instead of your own wishes… because you want Delic to be the best player on this team. We got that part a long time ago…

He has looked a bit like a passenger this year. Last night was probably the most extreme example this year. I don’t know how much is being affected by the new HC. He was carrying the puck slightly more last year it seems like but he also was spending a lot of time with Lombardi who would just find him when he was open. Neither Kressler or Giroux are much above average when it comes to puck distribution and Hayes (among others) has been firing the puck from low percentage positions too much. He does have speed down the wing though and is strong on the puck. He has the ability to score off the rush we just haven’t seen much of that so far this year.

Musty and Dvorsky are the best players on this team, and it's not even very close. Goyette's too busy skating the puck into 4 opposing players, losing it then not backchecking. Musty at least tries in the defensive end.

Good for you bud ! You’ve finally learned to let go ! Baby steps…
Just like you immediately let go of your argument that small skilled players are centers at the NHL level when provided with evidence to the contrary. Baby steps.

Musty could be one of the best players on this team. in the last three games, he was far from it. just like last year. Musty started the same way. the only time he skated when he had the puck. did not compete.... that all changed last year when Derek took over the team. now he back playing the same way.
Remember, these are young players. you have leaders and followers. when your leaders are not skating and take extra long shifts and get away with it.... Guess what, the followers are going to do
the same thing... but this time the followers are getting benched. Not saying we need a new coach, He need to start running this team, not the players running him.

Do have to agree with this. A few of these players need to stop chasing the puck on the back check and pick up their man. It’s like watching pee wee hockey to be honest. Derek would have had none of that. No accountability is occurring and I’m beginning to think that the bench bosses if they say anything are being tuned out. Sets a bad culture imo. Have to question this leadership group.
