Depending on the players involved, a blockbuster may not be able to happen til after Jan 1.
Chromiak fits a few teams window to make a run whether that’s next year or the year after. So a decent return will occur with whoever is looking to land a very good piece that will be a NHL draft pick in the first 3 rounds next year. There is value there don’t kid yourself.

WJ

You need at least two teams that. are offering something. It's the only way you can drive up the price. Teams know Wolves need to move him. No team will overpay unless they know someone else is putting up a competitive bid. All the Wolves can say to a bad offer is fine we'll just waive him but that doesn't help us either!
Because of the situation were they have to move Chromiak I would expect the return to be at most a 2nd and 4th. If he is traded for a high end player it would be him plus draft picks.

The wolves should get a decent offer. Brantford, Kingston, & Petes are in same division and all have room for an import and could use an ‘05 RD.
I do not think the timing is right for Peterborough. They do not have the draft picks to trade in any deal and they are not ready to move Sam Mayer or Konnor Smith. They actually need a left defenceman. They are fairly strong on right defence with Donovan McCoy, Carson Cameron, Brayden Velliaris and Liam Ladds all returning next year.

I see Jackson is on the roster. Can some player movement be happening and Jackson is being called up because of a larger deal possibly happening and the Wolves may be short dmen tomorrow as a result. Maybe we should pay close attention to other teams scratched players for Friday nights games. I myself would like to see a Betucci and Hayes walk around the rink to the home side tomorrow night.

As far as Dvorsky reporting goes didn’t some call it a pipe dream for us fans to think he would land in Sudbury. I do recall some saying that ship sailed when his name was mentioned in here around the draft just saying….

WJ
I always held out hope he’d come to the Woofers and it’s happened. Once Hage gets drafted he may also come North…
As for Dvorsky, besides the incredible talent, getting this player at no cost is a game changer on and off the ice. A 1C to add to the incredible depth. Losing Chromy is unfortunate but he will benefit with way more ice time on another team in his draft year. He will shine this year and next! I wish him the best of luck.
Now let’s get Mania back and let the boys settle in.
Let’s fill the barn tomorrow night and welcome our new player!!

Jackson May play his first OHL game Saturday in Barrie??? He is from the area…

It was a pipe dream. Wolves hit the jackpot

No I expected him to be here based on his age and the fact all of his countrymen are in the OHL this year. It was just a matter of time.

WJ

St.Louis signing him when they did played the biggest part in him being here. Once that happened the odds improved dramatically that he could end up here at some point. That along with had he been getting proper ice time in the SHL and succeeding there, not a chance he ends up in the OHL. The stars aligned big time here with Dalibor being in Sudbury. Again props to Paps on swinging for the fences, a big get for this city.

Having a strong team in a go for it year also helped….

Any guesses on forward lines tomorrow? Do they stack the deck and go with a Musty Dvorsky Goyette line, or spread it out? I really like the Musty Goyette McCallum line they have going. But I feel like they are going to give Dvorsky either Musty or Goyette on his line. So many options for Ole Kenny. My guess:

Musty Dvorsky McCallum
Goyette Delic Konyen
Walton Villeneuve Pharand
Yearwood Taylor Coughlan

Those top 2 lines can compete with any in the ohl I’d say. Very impressive.

Hot take:

With Jackson listed on the main roster as of this evening, he ends up dressing tomorrow night. 6 Dmen dressing DeAngelis, Collins, Anania, Toure, Pryce, Jackson.

Paps pulls off a blockbuster and gets one of his main trade targets earlier instead of waiting until the deadline. More playoff experience and a PP quarterback.

Chromiak, Protz, picks for Donovan, Okitundu

I would go Donovan and Wifi 2 for Chromiak, Protz and Mauro.

I was pessimistic. I mentioned that on this board Wednesday saying it wasn't going to happen but I'm happily wrong. But go ahead and try to keep sticking it to me with the I told you so. Again I'm happily wrong.

I didn't see it happening. I also didn't think he would get less than 2 minutes a game in his last two SHL games. St Louis wouldn't be happy with that, neither would Dalibor. I also thought if he came over he'd have a chance to play in the AHL first. So I think we're fairly lucky that the SHL coach didn't like his game or didn't feel like he was good enough to help them, and St Louis trusts Sudbury and the OHL(kids Disneyland) to give him loads of ice time and development opportunities. The Blues could have sent him to the USHL. OHL is a better league! I'm happy the Blues see that too! Let this kid play with his peer group.

It was always a long shot. A swing for the fences when we drafted him. Gatta credit Paps for taking a swing or two regardless of what the public would say about Euro's not reporting under his leadership. He's the one laughing right now!

I don't see the same thing happening with Hage. He's committed to Michigan. I think he intends to play there after he's drafted. So next season.

I would go Donovan and Wifi 2 for Chromiak, Protz and Mauro.

WJ
Wifi has 3 game misconducts in 5 games.

The thing I like about the Sudbury Board is that those who post, do so in a positive manner (for the most part). There have been times when the eye test and fan frustration gets the better of us and we want to trade half the team and fire management but at the end of the day we are caring passionate fans of the Wolves. Trust me, no one is smarter than anyone else on here.
This year is gonna be a fun ride and more changes will come to make this team better. So let’s enjoy the opportunity and critic in a positive manner while we all play pretend GM.
Speaking of GM/Paps, I’d say other teams in the O and current and future players/agents are taking notice of what is happening in Sudbury and that can only be a positive thing. Here’s hoping that high end 18-19 year olds wanna come and join this group for a special season. Welcome Mr. Dvorsky, have fun in the Ol barn tonight.

What is a realistic timeline for the Chromiak deal to be done? There are only a handful of teams that have space so should be quick I would think.

I could be wrong but there might be a deadline for European players to report? This might be important when it comes to retention for those that don’t come this season. Not sure if that deadline is November 1st? But if a team trades for Chromey they may have to drop a previous Euro pick that hasn’t yet reported. If the date is in fact Nov.1st, then the Chromey trade might go right to the two week deadline. Or not. Who knows.

Often enough, imports show after the WJC

Has to be within two weeks is my understanding. So that's the limit.

All GM's know about the deadline. You need a team that really wants him, and competition for him. Otherwise, Paps has to just take what he can get. You would think the better offers would come closer to the two-week deadline. I don't think it's a good move to have him sit and wait it out. It doesn't look good from a player management standpoint. I think something will happen after the weekend. Hopefully a team steps up and puts up a fairish offer.

The longer you drag this out the more unhappy the player will be not playing and the worse it looks on the team. That's just my perspective.

Out of respect for the player and future import picks, I would think that Sudbury moves him sooner than later. Totally agree with you about dragging it out.

I put this on the Fronts thread

Teams with space are
Windsor
Kingston
Petes can you say Mayer?
Gens
Mississauga Doubtful
Kitchener
Brantford

If I am Sudbury I am not interested in helping any of the conf teams beat us this year or next.

Kitchener has the players that could make it interesting.
