Wolves are done tonight. They are slow in the dzone. Turnovers and not enough guys came to play.

WJ
They need to challenge them to make more then two passes in a row. Just brutal.

Anania is one of my favorite wolves but tonight has likely been his worse game of the year. Dvorsky a near non-factor as well.

On the other hand, McCoy showed up and has been great.

Terribly disappointing performance tonight. Need to be much better in game 2. Hopefully Vondras can be back.

Theberge has been full on homer this entire game. He straight up called knocking the goalie down a good play. He said Ride hit Pharand with a few one-punches(Is counting past one too hard for him?) He's an absolute clown.

Loser in the North Bay crowd flipping Musty the bird after he scored. Love to see it.M
Musty gave the finger also
Game story- outgoalied, north bay D blocked shots and Dvorsky a no-show

Too many no shows, too many missed chances and a stellar game by McIvor. Davorskys worse game in a Wolves jersey. Did he win one faceoff aganist Wakley? All this aganist a somewhat depleted North Bay team.

Just maybe Dvorsky couldn't understand what the hell sleepy Joe was doing with the line up call and was baffled all game.

I for one not overly surprised by this outcome tonight. I think they gave a good effort but lacked execution and didn't generate enough chances. You can't win many games scoring 2 goals. I didn't chime in on who would win this series because, and I've said this numerous times, that until the wolves can show me they can beat a good opponent on the road, they won't win this series. I don't care if the bay are missing players they're still a good hockey club.

Wolves need to show me how deep they think they are as a team.

Bottom line the Wolves underestimated an undermanned Bay team. Too many guys played with no speed on the the attack. Turnovers and constant defensive errors with mediocre goaltending did them in. And how I can forget horrible coaching decision on the line up.

Wolves dont generate enough in the other teams zone. Perimeter play does absolutely nothing. Need to get more pucks/ players to the net. Make the back up goaltender work.

Walton is done, he gets no ice has gone right down hill and Kmac sees it. Feel bad for him playing with zero confidence. should maybe have been moved at the deadline.
Walton's last good game was vs Saginaw. This was a concern going into the draft. Consistency and whether he could put more good games together than bad ones. Right now he has done very little in the last 10 games.

North bay is battle tested a lot of guys who went deep in the playoffs last year. Sudbury not so much. Sudbury has too much talent to only score 2 goals against a backup goalie. Sudbury will need one of their goalies to step up if they wanna win the series imo

"In an effort to generate more chances at even strength than they had in the opening round, MacKenzie and his staff switched up their lines by placing Villeneuve between Musty and Goyette, Dalibor Dvorsky with Kocha Delic and Evan Konyen, Zacharie Giroux with Landon McCallum and Alex Pharand, and Kieron Walton with Lucas Signoretti and Nick Yearwood.

“We can’t rely on our power play every night to get three or four goals, so we thought we would change the lines up,” MacKenzie said. “But we’ve got a lot of work to do. We’ve got to score goals."

We had trouble scoring goals 5 on 5, so we broke up the one line actually scoring 5 on 5 goals. Makes sense. This coaching staff thinks they're smarter then they actually are.

Agreed!
Absolutely baffled by the lineup changes last night and even the thought process resulting in making that decision.

That's not a homer comment, that's a general comment. If the same situation happened to a Wolves player with the referees hand up to call a delayed penalty, we would want him to do the same thing. Theberge made a few in favor of Wolves players as well including one where he said Therrien deserved to be punched by Anania . Ranjan was complaining about the referees all night "finally sees there are two teams here". All announcers are a little homerish but Ranjan is a fanboy. I hope our announcers aren't that bad.

Putting that aside, the Wolves need to improve their puck management, put the puck on net more and drastically improve their complete level all over the ice. They don't have 5 home games like last series, they need to play a more conservative game on the road.
