Can all AA posts from this point forward be posted in Niagara’s thread. We don’t need a constant reminder of a player who no longer is active on our current roster. Would be like discussing Stillman on here or Holmes etc…

Anyone find out of Musty is back tonight? Was he practicing yesterday. I know some of you attend practice regularly maybe you can pass along if he was present or not. Much appreciated.

WJ
Did not practice yesterday so I would think you won’t see him this weekend…that my guess.

WJ - you were the guy that wouldn't stop. You kept bashing the kid even after he was gone. You couldn't wish him all the best. You even had to give it an extra dig when you stated that he wouldn't perform against other teams the same way he performed against us. You frankly sounded somewhat obsessed with AA.

I think it's important you know that nobody in this league would perform playing less than 3 minutes a night with the likes of Mauro, Ryan Smith, Hollingsworth or even Derbidge (none of the 4 are in the league anymore).

So, please tell me why AA wouldn't crack the top 6 on this team. We are a 16th place team, and you're telling me that we have no place for a talented, 17 year old kid that finished top 10 in rookie scoring last year. I guess we're making a run for the Mem Cup THIS year with that stacked 2nd line!

If he was back practicing and playing tonight I would assume he would've played at the CHL Top Prospects Game. So I'd say atleast another week. Who knows.

So, please tell me why AA wouldn't crack the top 6 on this team.
Because he wasn't/isn't good enough. Pretty simple. There would be others in the bottom 6 more deserving than AA as well.

Exactly and he did nothing for our bottom six. So yes win win and will come back to let cobra aka billet parent, agent, daddy know how our 2nd and 3rd round picks turn into from this trade. Possibly an integral part for our run next year.

WJ
I don’t believe thevthis team is close to a run next year. No defence at all, and a question mark in the net.

I forgot that rosters for next year are locked in by January 27th.

20 year old Toure
19 year old Collins
18 Year old Mania
18 Year old Chromiak

If you trade for a 19 year old top 2D this D core does not look bad at all. Still have Euro draft and priority selection to add to this. I don't think Anania will be an overager but who knows what overage D might be available for cheap to add to this group. Larmand isn't an overage candidate in my opinion. Bishop, Walton can fight it out for a 7D spot.

I recall saying in the preseason that MacCallum could be really good in his 19 year old season when most on this board said they had seen enough and he's pretty much a lock as an OA candidate and people on this board said he was too valuable to trade away at the deadline. Players get better as they settle in the league and get older. Chromiak and Mania both look like they will be great 19 year olds and should be solid OHLers next year.

I won't speak on the goalie situation at this time.

Never bashed him. I stated the same as anyone else on here. Didn’t perform on the bottom six and the team doesn’t have a spot for him on the top six. In other words he was expendable. And yes I did say good for him he finds a place to get his time. I still believe he won’t be a factor in his OHL career for Niagara. That’s my opinion. So take your constant play by play of his performance to the Niagara thread. I could care a less other than the players who are with the Wolves. Now get lost!!!

Ok if you say so! To be determined.

Yes he is.
The point was Assadourian like Lardis, is a better fit with more opportunity on another team
Agreed!

Yes sirrrrrrrrrr!!

:devdance::devdance::devdance:
If we capitalized on our break aways and open looks the game wouldn’t have been this close. Very nice team win. Solid in D zone and disciplined hard nose play…congrats. Safe travels to OS.

A few thoughts
This team has really picked up its work rate as a whole and some players dramatically.
Chromiak skating has improved but can still get beat wide
Much tighter in own zone. It' seems connected now and not just guys covering space
D Robinson has certainly taken to the coaching change. Not perfect but a useful piece. As Harry Neal once said of Brad marsh, he is snowshoeing through center
Goyette is really showing why some evaluators thought he might be a first rounder. What a talent. He could of had 4 or 5 last night.
Boudreau is becoming the player traded for. If only he could finish.
McCallum is another who creates a zillion chances and has a hard time finishing.
Pharand has a chance. Hands better than expected and good on the boards and 8n front. Wins a lot of pucks
Toure has simplified his game some and is steady
Brassard has settled in as well. He can get a little crouchy and small looking but neither goal yesterday was soft.

9ff to see the Sting in kitchener Tuesday. Will be 8nteresting to see them with their new additions

I have been a fan of Assadourian since the moment he set foot on training camp ice last year. I saw a talented player with all the skill attributes of an excellent offensive performer , in this league for years. I am simply a fan of rare speed ,skill and creative playmaking ability. I am not a relative or billet and have been a season ticket holder for over 3 decades. The Wolves possessed a player that they would have become an 80+ point producer for potentially 3 more seasons. He was mismanaged from the moment he came here. He was not a fourth line grinder like you wanted him to be. Assadourian should have been a second line centre. McCallum for all of his improvement this year is a player where grade A scoring chances go to die. He rarely shoots and when he does it usually is minor hockey calibre.
You can't practice revisionist history. Check your posts and see that you did not see his talent and actively promoted trading him. In addition fellow posters look forward to reading your insightful posts and opinions but at the end of the day they are in fact just opinions. This forum works at it's best when there is a free discourse of thoughts, ideas, and yes varying opinions. Don't act the bully and tell people to get lost from this forum, when these posters have been the foundation of a very loyal fan base for a team that has not been good for most of our lifetimes.

For the love of god!!! I’m a bully. Stop focusing on one poster! quoting my posts and relentless attacks on my opinions when more than I had the same thought on the player. What… i have to worry about the morality police on here? Where were you the last decade on numerous players being critiqued on here. Oh wait AA was the only guy you thought was deserving of top two lines since the day he got here sorry forgot about that. For the last time good for him in Niagara and good for the Wolves we have a 4th line producing and making good on every little opportunity they are getting. I don’t know what more to say on the matter. I still don’t think AA will be a threat in his OHL career. The honeymoon period will end. He lacks various parts of his game to go along with his natural speed and level of skill. You can quote me in three years!

A forum to share opinions I agree and you have clearly stated yours. I think when a team makes a pick earlier in the second round, their last thought is having to trade the player after 1.5years. That I think we all can agree upon. Your evaluation of AA is accurate and ideally he could have carved out a spot in middle six on this team, but for whatever reason it didn’t work out. Speedy yes, finishing goal scoring chances I’m not so sure about? I remember a lot of missed nets with his shot. Board battle wins, very rare. Physical play, again very rare. Great kid, absolutely! Bottom line, it wasn’t met to be and we move on. Both teams are happy with the outcome, perhaps is posters should accept the trade. I personally wish him all the best and I hope he proves Wolves Management wrong!

I agree with parts of what WJ is saying. Assadourian does not belong in the top six for the wolves at 17, never on a checking line; and certainly should not have been given an unearned spot in the top six at 16. He did not fit now, so for the good of the wolves now and future of AA accept a fine return from a team that can utilize his abilities now and allow him to develop.

It is just an example of Papineau wasting good draft opportunity. It’s incompetence imo. If he wants to use his first pick on forwards every year, fine; but not selecting a D until round 4 or 5 four straight years is absurd.
He did not use one of 2-2nds for a D in 2019, three straight picks on forward in 2020 not selecting D until round 5, he could of used a 2nd on a D rather than Assaadourian in 2021, and I think it was pure negligence that he did not use his first 2nd in 2022 to secure the first goalie off the board and select a D with his second 2nd pick.
Just how many early picks on forwards are required when a team has three top 3 picks in five years; all of them apparently.
The good news is the wolves should be loaded on forward and plenty of excess picks to acquire two much needed expensive LD for a run next season.

100% agree with the drafting issues. After taking McCallum, Stillman and Larmand in 2019, he followed it up with Goyette Delic and Konyen in 2020. That's a lot of committed forwards going into 2021 draft where you add Musty and Assodourian. That being said Mania has turned into a nice piece for a 4th round pick.

Assodourian must have been a guy they were really high on to take him and I guess take the best player available but at some point roster construction has to come into play. Stillman became Pharand so a spot didn't open up with trading Stillman, and we added another depth forward in Boudreau only to make it harder for Assodourin to fit into the top 6.

I wish AA all the success in the world. Good kid. But let’s drop this already Cobra. The Wolves are better off without him. I’d take McCallum over him anyday, brings a lot more to the table without being a finisher. AA looked lost out their at times in a Wolves uniform. Enjoy him as a top 6 forward in Niagara. You will need it! Wolves lineup is grittier and better built with the moves made. We just beat Windsor for goodness sakes. Go Wolves Go!
