Paps loves his big Euro goalies!

First goalie taken in the draft by the Wolves. 19 year old (2004). 6th round pick of Carolina

04 Goalie, should all but confirm this is the year they're going all in. I'd assume he'll report based on the Carolina connection.

Let’s hope we get to see him in person, is this it for chucky 2young goalies one second round plc already in place any thoughts?

Does krawchuk play backup...

1A 1B situation .. ride the hot hand.

Can't forget about Gaulton. He's a wild card. Will battle for a spot at training camp, but will probably be sent down so he can get tons of starts and continue to develop. One of Gaulton or Krawchuk may very well end up being an important trade chip at some point this season

With Gaulton missing considerable time last year, he has to play lots of games this year. Chucky is a year older (I think). Nice to have this kind of depth, no rush to do something foolish. Don’t forget Bronas….

An August deal with the Rangers for Mitch Martin for a package that includes one of your 2nds in ‘24?
Interesting. By the way I like your content you post.

I'm not one to get caught up with drafting/ trading for locals. If it makes sence, and he's the best option, I'm all for it.

Your non bias thoughts?

We have more than enough options at OA forward without relinquishing a 2nd round pick/package
I agree with this, I’d be more inclined to add an OA at the TDL than in August. To me, as I see it, our OAs should be MacCallum, Toure, and AA. If any of them aren’t up to snuff then move one or multiple of them before the deadline.

Big news today - goaltending suddenly becomes a position of strength for the wolves in addition to our forwards.

I'd imagine they roll a Vondras/Krawchuk combo in 23-24 and send Gaulton to play as many games as possible in Jr.A & possibly dealt at the deadline for a run in the playoffs.

If Chucky doesn't mind (potentially) being the backup again, the path is clear after this season for him to be our starter in 24-25 & 25-26 (dependant on Gaulton's future with the team).

Very excited for next season & to see what other moves could be made before September.

Thanks!

Martin, I believe, is leader material. Big body in front of the net. Virtually immovable. Capable of 35-40 goals I’d say. Missed some time with an injury last year and played with the injury for a period of time. That affected his numbers.

His numbers in the playoffs tell the tale. His goals per game went up and he was a pain to play against. Made it his business to get under the skin of the opponent. Loves to throw his weight around and stays away from dumb penalties.

The only reason I bring him up as Sudbury being a possible trade destination is because the rumour that he was Sudbury bound originated on your board. Also, the rumour on your board that McCallum may want a trade told me there may be room to bring in an OA forward.

I’m thinking that the Rangers would get better value for him at the deadline. Especially if he puts up the numbers I think he can. If he does, he’ll be in demand.

I don’t know anything. But because of the rumours, it wouldn’t surprise me if something happens sooner than later.

I hear you as far as tripping over yourself to bring in a player because he’s a local. We have Sop here in Kitchener. A very good player but I swear our radio guys give him probably double the attention he deserves mainly because he’s the “Kitchener Kid”. This is not a rip on Sop. As I said, he’s good and will be a very good OA. But…..
